Its a pretty nice kit. And should work on other 1911's. Just on that if you are looking.

Thanks OP
I got one from CDNN Sports a while back at about the same price, but
I like the Kimber Conversion better...

Need to find a source for reasonably priced mags now

takes gsg 1911 mags, which have come down significantly in the past couple years, you can find them for $20 all over the place, joebob, gunmagwarehouse, ebay, etc

Is the Kimber kit more accurate? Better fit and finish?

Any chance this will work on a Springfield 9mm 1911?

I was wondering the same about my RIA 9mm, but I think the .22 mags for this kit would not fit in a 9mm 1911?

The cheapest going for the basic Kimber kit is $309.00 off ebay right now.
I wouldn't spend that kind of money at any point foir a conversion. But at $160 shipped and knowing how accurate Sig barrels are, it's a no brainer.

Just a personal subjective preference - both probably afford better accuracy than I can manage.
I found my Kimber on ebay for $220 used - The Kimber version I got has adjustable target type rear sight. Sig RS is fixed
The Sig seems to have a last round hold open feature, the Kimber does not.

My range buddy has the sig 1911-22 that I believe is made by GSG and it's a great gun. This seems like its basically the same thing but in a full size (his is smaller than a standard 1911)

Very tempting as I rarely shoot my RIA tactical in .45

I _think_ the magwells are of the same size so the mags _should_ fit. I'm not sure about the ejectors. They are different shapes between 9mm and .45. The 9mm are extended ones and may not clear the .22 slide. Some .22 conversion kit fit, some don't is what I heard.

This thread is all bad for me!
Went to CDNN to price check.
No 22 conversions and it still cost me over $80.
Picked up a set of Sig 1911 Rosewood grips for 16.99 and two 6 round mags for my XDS at 29.95 each.
A savings of 50.00.

Oh, yeah...
this Sig 1911-22 Conversion Slide is a Series 80, so the firing pin block will need to be disabled if you want to use it in an older type frame

So I just tried mine out for the first time.
This thing is very accurate and it comes with 5 front sights. 4 plus the one that is installed.
I was so eager to try it out that I forgot to lube the slide.
After about 4 mags worth, the slide started to short cycle. A couple of drops of snake oil took care of that and it was off to the races.
Thank you OP!

Forgot to mention.
I can't remove the magazine unless the slide is closed. You can't push in the mag release after the last round locks the slide back. you have to manually close the slide, then release the mag. Anyone know what going on? Is there a remedy?
Thanks.

Anyone have fitment issues with this on a Rock Island 1911? I ordered one and barrel seems to sit a little too high to where the lug hole is not lining up to the hole in the frame. The barrel is also high and rubs the inside of the slide. With out the barrel in the slide, it goes on easily. And it looks like the barrel does go as far down as possible.

Any thoughts? Was this kit not intended for this frame? TIA

If it wasn't for the expensive magazines, I might have bought one. I read that the sights are plastic. Is that true?

They had 7 yesterday. I had one in my cart. I decided not to buy because I couldn't find another magazine anywhere.

Sights are plastic.
Magazines are available through cwaccessories.com
They have all sorts of parts and upgrades for this conversion.

It should work with any standard sized 1911 frame.
Try it again.
Put the slide on the frame. As soon as it stops, without any pressure, the hole for the slide stop should be lined up.
My barrel also touches the top of the slide.

Your ria is a 70 Series frame. This kit is meant to be use on the 80 series frame.

Where do you get that this is for an 80 series 1911? I didn't see that in any of the description. Let alone if you have a series 80 theres only a few internal parts that make it an 80. Plus if he's buying it as an 80 series and putting it on a 70 thats an easy fix of a few parts and sliding it on but I don't see where it says 80 or thats an issue. I bought three and fitted one on mine so keep in mind with any 1911 as you change something or fit a whole slide onto the receiver there is more than likely some fitting to do.

The safeties difference shouldn't cause the barrel lug and frame holes not to line up, correct?

At this point the complete slide will not slide on easily....it feels like the barrel is too high and forcing the slide up causing it to bind, then there is the holes that will not line up so the slide stop can go through.

A buddy has the gsg on his 1911 so I will have to compare and test his name with this slide.

Thanks

Did you have to take off material at the base of the barrel that engages the frame? Did that do anything to the proper feeding of the bullet, as that will lower the chamber?
Thanks

Does this kit come with threaded barrel? What do you guys do to "fix" this and make it legal use?

My Post 14 advised that the Slide was series 80 and a remedy to remove the firing pin block for use with older/earlier frames provided in a link in an earlier Calguns Post.

Other Issues discussed here is the magazine failing to drop free after the last round. I concocted 2 remedies;

1. Magazine - there is a metal pin inserted into the follower, this pin impinges on the stripper lug of the frame. this pin could be filed down a bit to obviate the impingement pressure.

I decided to try this route first, however:

2. The frame cut for the slide release is too long, which allows the above noted follower pin/frame stripper lug impingement. I added a small dollop of JB Weld at the back of the cut to allow the frame stripper lug to stop a little shy of the pin on the Magazine follower. Not really a high stress point, I anticipate that the JB Weld should hold up well and for a while.

rmnc3r thanks sorry I read this whole post and somehow it never clicked 80 series. Man Ive been in la la land. I fitted mine just as a function but didn't completely fit it. Now seeing that it is an 80 I will make all the adjustments on mine to a 70. Having about 12 frames to fit it to fgives me a wide range so just need it to fit on one. Thought about even just dedicating it to a frame so Thanks for the info.....
