Default Ffl for 80% ar pistol in the bay

Does anyone know if there is an ffl in the area that will dros one of these 80% pistols still?

Of course compliant with single shot break action configuration

Edit: Just realized you're talking about an AR pistol. Nevermind.

I think everyone is still confused about what you are trying to accomplish. DROS is for selling/buying. If you built it yourself, and are just trying to follow the new law about serial numbers, then you need to fill out a Firearm Ownership Report, sometimes called a "volreg". If it's an assault weapon, that won't work, and I'll just refer you to the many other threads on that one.

If you have an AR pistol that you built years ago and want to keep it legal, the period to register as an assault weapon is open until july i think. You do this online with DOJ, not with FFL.

If this is what you are asking about, then I would also read the guide thread here:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1305436

That thread also has link to DOJ website to register as an assault weapon if that is what you are asking about...
You may also need to volreg or submit to DOJ for serial number, not sure. You have lots of reading to do.

Edit: I didn't see he was ttalking about single shot, break action... I'm dumb...

I was just looking for a referral for a ffl, but here is the background.

- I had an 80% receiver laser engraved with serial,"pistol" and other required markings in 2015. I had collected a few parts, but not everything needed to complete the pistol. At that time SSE2 had just taken effect, which was to build single shot, break action, pistol. Life got busy and I did not complete the build.

- Fast forward to this year. I collected all the parts to complete the build. From what I have read, SSE2 still in effect until July 2018 when SSE3 hits(volreg is a seperate issue to my understanding, SSE3 has DOJ issue serial), but this will not affect me since I had the lower engraved and milled prior to july 2018. I am looking to dros the lower so that it is registered under my name, so that in the case I take it out to a range, there should be no legal issues as to ownership. volreg would apply if someone was to convert their single shot pistol into a semi with BB.

still don't understand why you keep saying DROS. If you already have the lower, I'm not sure you would find an FFL that will DROS anything with you as both the seller and buyer. DROS stands for "dealer record of sale". In fact, there's a specific type of form for exactly the purpose of registering a firearm you already own. It's called the Firearm Ownership Report, or the "volreg". You can volreg any type of firearm, it doesn't have to be semi-automatic. The online form in CRIS, for Firearm Type, you would select "Pistol", and for Category select "Single Shot" (it is an option in the drop-down menu). That form will put the firearm in your name, it's why it exists. The registration is for the purpose of the DOJ serial law. "SSE" exists as a roster exemption whether it's registered or not.
