Renewal 'class' isn't the same as the intial class.

Does anyone know if you're supposed to receive any further contact after the phone call for the range day - like a confirmation e-mail or anything?
I got the call in August for the 19th of this month (October).

If you were given a range day, just go to it on that day

Nope. Just be there with bells on. Be early and make sure you have lunch with you. Keep all of your guns locked in your car until told to get them.

Sending reminders takes time. Staff would rather spend time processing apps then reminding adults of what should be important to them things.

I was specifically told no other notifications would be given and to show up on that day.

Quick search of their website didn't show anything. If they're issuing they're doing it on the down low.

A friend asked about it because he has a friend that insists they are going through Colton rather then SB County.

Two questions about range qualification and RDS.

1) From previous posts I’ve read, using an RDS seems to have been hit or miss depending on the officer, is this still the case?

2) I didn’t want to have my original slide milled, so I bought another OEM Glock slide for the RDS. The barrel and frame share the same serial#s, however, the slide does not. Has anyone tried this and were there any issues?

Default Ccw interview

Hello everyone, i was lucky to get my interview scheduled two weeks from now!
I have a few questions, hope someone in this forum can help me out as im trying to gather and have everything ready.

1. Should i fill out all the forms that are posted online including the pre-backgrou d interview form?

2. I recently moved to a different address. same county (san bernardino) and same city. I updated my address online using the dmv website. Will this be an issue as my DL will be showing my old address?

Print out and take with you. Make duplicate of the paperwork you're using for your proof of residency.

As for your license. I've seen people say to go to the DMV and get a print out of your records. This will be proof that you changed your address with them.

You're probably thinking, yeah but I printed it out when I did it online. But do you have that fancy watermark paper they use at the DMV?

I moved between issuance and renewal and they accepted the stamped brown change of address card from the DMV along with supporting paperwork (gas bill I think). Yeah I would go to the DMV or at least AAA (if you are a member) and get everything you can.

They'll work with you Hugo, just do everything you can to shorten the process. This is San Bernardino county and they are really looking for a reason to give you a CCW, not deny you... It's not LA thank God. It's a pretty easy process considering you are dealing with the government.

Thanks for the fast reply! I will definitely be paying the dmv a visit!
Another question, i only submitted one gun at the time of application, is it too late to add a second firearm?

You can add or change guns on your range date. I only listed one on my application. I have 3 on my permit. None of which is the gun I listed on the application.

Wow you got your permit fast! We were told 4 to 6 weeks... of course our class was so big they had to divide us into two separate ones. But again that might be normal as well for all I know LoL

On a side note it was wonderful to have met the Sheriff - the fact that he thought enough of the program to do that and answer whatever questions any of us had for him really made an impact on a lot of us there and with my family when I came home and told them about it.

Went to the renewal class in Rancho earlier this week. Was nice to see the Sheriff come out and answer any and all questions. We were told he makes a trip to nearly every initial and renewal class.

He also mentioned that while we can legally own "standard" capacity magazines, while this issue works it's way through the courts, San Bernardino County does not permit you to carry your concealed handgun using a magazine with a capacity more than 10 rounds. When all of this is finished, they will revise the policy (if freedom wins).

Just had my range qualifications on Tuesday night for my add-ons. Anybody get any early calls for pick up yet?

When does your permit expire?

It's been mentioned before to do this as close to the 90 days before so they have time to process it. Last year many people had their permit after their expiration date because they didn't qualify early enough.

I still have till the end of next month. I did the renewal class early, but I am doing add-ons. So I had to wait for a range day to open up. Last Tuesday (evening) was the earliest available. I think there are 3 more before the year ends for add-ons.

I received my renewal card one day after the one expired via mail.

I'm happy, as I started my renewal out less than 30 days out before it expired this time out. DOH!

I thought I would go naked for a few weeks.

Well with any luck you'll have your new permit by the time your current one expires.

Don't expect it to arrive "early".

Quoted myself to show my timeline for renewal. I started my renewal process as far out as they would let me. I didn't need to qualify for a new gun, so things moved along quickly. I ended up carrying both in my wallet for awhile, just in case I forgot to swap over when the old one expired.

I'm ok with that. Gives me some time to shop around some new holsters for my add-ons. I need to get rid of my older ones since I won't be carrying those anymore.

Took my renewal class ~75 days before expiration and had the renewal license a couple of weeks after the class. I carried both the old and the new until the old license expiration date.

It should be mailed out near your expiration date.

Had my range day for my renewal today. There were about 60 of us and they ran us thru in less than an hour.It was very organized as usual. I still can't understand how many people that already have their ccw had to be told be told to keep their fingers off of the trigger and weapon pointed down range .
