Default Whats the best AR Mag Lock?

What's the best value, quickest, least inconvenient AR mag lock? There seem to be so many options besides the namesake AR Maglock. After using them, which one do you like and why?

I had a Patriot pin and it was bent. I emailed the company and they told me I must've bent it and basically to pound sand.

Wont ever buy from them again.

Forget Maglocks, wont work especially if you have double feeds and you cant dump the mag to clear the jams. Your screwed.

Go with Resurgent Arms see their grip its great.

I prefer 33.3 Cal Catch for a fixed mag solution.
Combined with a Kingpin rear takedown, the reloads are pretty seamless.
The CompMag is another good solution if you are just bench shooting since reloading is a slow process.

Try that maglock with a Kingpin. You won't have any issues with double feeds - period.

How wouild you manage double-feeds with the DMF? Remove the bottom plate to drop all your ammo so you can free to jam?

Featureless. Why would anyone lock their AR after MAGApalooza?

Well answer your question I drilled my lower inside the bolt catch channel and tapped the hole and then installed a set screw behind the factory mag release. It cost me less than a dollar since I had all the stuff besides the screw. If you count the BF10 loader then it was 36.00 but you don't have to have that. Thanks to MSHILL here on the board for his thread.

For an A.R. pistol right?

First thing I would ask is do you want to deal with ejection port loading?

Or do you want to be able to drop mags quickly? Almost like a non neutered gun.

FC Hook

Super fast to swap back to normal if you go to a free state.
Use a slightly modified Magpul mag and
dropping the floor plate is stupid easy
to help with double feeds.

It is what it is if you want to enjoy shooting something
normal looking. I would not use it as a go to of course.

Have a featureless on hand.

Yes -Iím using the gen 2 ar mag lock with kingpin on my ar pistol and itís great.

Never had what most people call a double feed on it but if I do -clear it same as a regular ar.

Only difference is -instead of just pushing the mag button alone-you push in the king pin at the same time.

Works great!

It would look better though with the kingpin and a hogue freedom fighter.
Because then you have a regular mag release. Just shorten plunger.

As far as a rifle build, no I wouldnít do a fixed Mag anymore.

I still have one though, mostly out of laziness.

20 inch A2 with Maglatch fngr- fed by Bear flag defense ejection port loaders.

Maybe someday Iíll throw a grip wrap on it and replace the flash hider with a brake, but itís kind of nice having a rifle that can go from 100% California compliant to 100% free state in about five seconds.

Push rear pin out, open action, Invert gun, fngr falls out, close action, push pin in-BOOM! You have 100% free state rifle.

And I have plenty of other featureless to shoot if I want.

My SHTF is my Sionics featureless rifle.

My AR rifle and AK build are both featureless. This is for my AR pistol. Wish we could have a featureless pistol but that ain’t happening is it?

Thanks for the recommendations all, I’ll check all of those out.

Thanks Lead. But that would require I actually find the time to go shooting or meeting. This Summer has been pretty busy with work and vacations. Thanks for the offer.

I have the maglock gen4 plus kingpin...

Gen 2 works aswell but you can't change it to a "regular" mag release with the twist of a screw.

A FAKE one! Just do one that looks permanent and don’t say anything.

Best value. Only $22.

Quickest. Install is super easy it just screws in.

Least inconvenient. It won't fall out. Your magazine is just as non-removable as any other system.

Just get used to loading through the dust cover. Or grab a Bear Flag Defense BF-10 magazine port loader.

Me, I spent a little more. AR Maglock and Juggernaut Tactical Hellfigher CA Rear Pin with a Magpul BAD lever to send the bolt home on empty before using the rear pin.

Not the cheapest.
Not the quickest to install. Or even use, probably.
Not the least inconvenient. Cross Armory probably gets that award. (Just stay far the **** away from their front takedown pin pal, that thing is a piece of ***.)

But it is the setup that mentally makes the most sense for me. I retain the ability to lock back the bolt to clear malfunctions, while otherwise having a rear takedown pin that makes sense to use and a permanently fixed maglock that is perfectly functional.

I'm sure Calgunners know you're trolling and nobody is taking your joke seriously, but Newsom and his merry band of pals watches this forum and they seriously don't know how to take this kind of joke.

I certainly AM NOT trolling! Or joking! I don’t live there so Gavin “OLDsom” can lick m..., well never mind. But I’m serious. I would still run a Billet button or something. And just put a piece of tape over or something so it looks like a lock.

Oh yeah, and with his tongue out!

AR Maglock Gen2 and Gen4 with Kingpin you can lock the bolt back press Kingpin which opens the receiver just enough that you can drop the mag with bolt hold back. I haven't seen anything else that does this.

That is why the AR maglock Gen 2 or 4 with Kingpin is hands down the best mag lock option on the market.

AR maglock with Kingpin you can lock your bolt to the rear and drop your mag to clear malfunctions just like a regular AR because you still have the bolt catch. No different than stock AR's other than pressing the Kingpin when you want to change mags.

The Kingpin and Hellfighter pin work in the same way as far as how they open the action but the Kingpin is way better designed. It doesnt have any parts to come unscrewed and lost like the end cap on the Hellfighter which should be loctited. The Kingpin is just rotated 180 and can be pulled straight out. Nothing to lose or come lose and quicker to install and disassemble.

Agreed, agreed, but OP said he was already featureless on his rifles, and the request for maglock suggestions was for his AR pistol.

Well since you asked I have the Juggernaut and have issues with it I was looking to buy the King pin and Ar maglock but they were impossible to find 1 week before deadline and Turner's had 2 Juggernauts so I went with them. I just can't find a grip I like to go featureless.

For my AR pistol I went with an AR Maglock and a kingpin. It's working out just fine.
