Default NorCal Build Party Part IV in Santa Rosa. Sunday, May 17th

woodey is kind enough to host another NorCal BP. This time, it'll be in Santa Rosa. If you're interested, let us know what you can bring and what you're planning on doing.

Date is set for Sunday, May 17th.

Edit 4/17:

BP date is determined. It will be on Sunday, May 17th. Please give me an update on if you can or can't go. If I don't hear from you by the 14th, then you spot will be replaced by one of the reserves.

Edit 4/3:

This will be limited to 15 people. Above shows over 15, but that list includes people that don't have kits yet but may have one by the time the BP comes. I'll add a reserve list if more people are interested.

I will probably make it. I have a barrel pin removal tool, grinder, dremel with cut offs. I should be getting a barrel installation jig, and a flat bending jig for tapco flats. Right now I am making a short rivet tool out of bolt cutters- lets see how it goes.

I'm working on an a simple park tank (heating element and ABS pipe). It should work for the flats and barrel assembly. I plan on getting it ready by the build day.

Default Interested.

I have a press, a bolt cutter rivet tool, a rear rivet jig, a power steering pully remover (for the front trunnion).

And a healthy interest in annoying a liberal by building an AK47!

Funny story, last year... at our Sac build party, we were just setting up in the morning and one of my neighbors ( very nice guy) walked up and asked if I wanted to register as a democrat... I answered... " Man are you in te wrong place ".

That's just too far for me these days since work relocated me. I've got to put fuel in the tank.

Default Kits

Try www.gunthings.com.

I bought a kit from him about a year ago and it was not cheap $300 but it was in very good condition.

Mothers day is defiantly out for me, I am thinking the 19th. I have to finagle any way I look at it. I did get the flat jig for Tapco flats, barrel install tool, and top rail scribe guide in the mail today. Looks like what we really need is a spot welder, and someone who knows how to use it.

So it would appear, based on this weekend's build, what is in short supply is the spot welder.

Does anyone have any experience with the Harbor Freight 110V model?
Will it do okay on flats or is it a POS?

Did someone say pizza? Hell yeah you're on the list then! I'll update the list tonight.

Also, I didn't realize the 10th was Mother's Day, so I'll be out that day. I can go on the other dates except for the 5/9 weekend.

Also, I may or may not bring the blast cabinet, compressor, and airbrushes depending on interest. It's not worth the hassle. We can have a separate "refinishing party" at a later date when the builds are complete.

That blast cabinet was great James, I may have get my own! I ended up putting Oxpho-blue from brownells on the barrel, and it came out great. Thats my opinion anyway, I will try to post pictures.

Glad it worked out. If you want your own, just wait for harbor freight to offer the 20% off coupons. Luckily, the cabinet was on sale the same week I had the coupon so I got a nice discount. Post pics!
