Default Snitch in NY resulted in an Aresenal being taken

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013...d-ny-home?lite

Summary: Neighbor snitched, undercover cop shows up... Dude got busted for having 300 guns. Some of which were illegal. Now, they were only illegal since he did not have the required permit to own a handgun. Oh... And worst of all, ready for this, he lived around the corner from.... a High School.

F New York.

And the dumb arse neighbor: "Wow! That's a lot of guns. It's scary." Moron.

In the end I'm betting everything was purchased legally. However, I can't believe the knucklehead didn't immediately shred his business card when his FFL expired, but chose to "maintain it" by leaving is sitting somewhere in his house. Really "scary" having so many weapons, but only two index fingers. The article had everything...lots of guns, thousands of rounds of ammo, schools, expired FFL, business cards with an expired license number (need disappearing ink next time)...

I hate these "arsenal" allegations. What difference does make it someone has three guns or three hundred guns? Unless your a Hindi god, you're not going to be shooting more than one at once.

You don't even want to guess how many pairs of shoes or purses my wife owns. "You only have two feet/arms, why do you NEED so many?"

It's scary, at least for my bank account.

I've kept copies all my old business cards, kinda like souvenirs. Granted I'm not an FFL but who cares.

Uh, this moron does not make us look good.
Illegal guns stashed all over the house, presumably not secured...
Expired FFL...
No license...

Where he chooses to store his guns isn't really any of my own business, so no comment to the stashing part.

Expired FFL license? Another who cares unless they can prove he was illegally buying and selling weapons, in which case that's a different can 'o worms.

The only "illegal weapons" according to the article were the 85 pistols, which were only illegal because he didn't have a pistol license?! Needing a license to own a weapon in your own home? Seems illegal to me.

The day Kali tries to say I need a license to keep my private property (guns) in my own private home, I'm outta here.

"illegal handguns." I'm sorry. The government doesn't get to "permit" me to have a handgun in my own house. I do think he should have gone through with the process of obtaining the proper permits and everything, but I'm not going to hold that against him.

His guns were not illegal. He did not have a f'n pistol permit for NY.

Guess what... After California changes the law this year or next to require a "pistol permit" all of mine will be illegal too. I will never ever register jack with them. Period.

My 03FFL will be expired in a couple of years too...

He is 66 years old. Not lilkely to have little ones running around. Seems his house was very safe to me. Nothing wrong with leaving guns laying around. Easy access when it is needed.

I hope you are joking.

This is exactly why I keep my mouth shut about my guns outside of my family (and VERY close friends).

Wish they put forth as much effort to catch the known criminals, but they might shoot back.....we are teetering on the edge of a very slippy slope. I feel more of a sadness for my kids than anger on my behalf.

I am with you. I made the mistake of telling a coworker about my passion for guns. Now I get Called Rambo. Also, I feel like it can be used against me if I ever got into a confrontation witty a coworker. Not that I'm violent or confrontational, but I always watch myself when I have to "let the shark out" at work.

Another point, everyone I work with believes that all ar15's are full auto. I then need to define semi auto, and it's function to them.

How many guns does a collector need?
Just one more.
Obviously the old fella couldn't afford
His license, he had his eye on this old 1911...
And don't we have something like a license called the handgun safety certificate? I mean it looks like one...

I couldn't tell from the article, but did the cops even have a warrant? I suppose with the way New York is these days that the word from the snitch would have been enough to get a rubber stamp, but still.

Did I read that correctly - a fellow gun owner that went to his home snitched him out. That is a d*** move. What a d-bag.

Yeah, lived in upstate NY for a bit, visited NYC a few times. No desire to ever ever live there ever again.

At least I get a side of nice weather and beautiful scenery along with my 2nd Amendment infringements.

No, lots of people in L.A, Stockton, Oakland buys hand guns all the time with no HSC, dros, background checks.

Wow.

Good thing he didn't have a sugar drink over 17 oz. too.

Ex post facto, I wonder how many of us, in various states like here in Cali, are going to find ourselves on the other side of the law?

Once they get rid of guns, they'll go after steak knives. Register or face prison. If you have a steak knife over a certain length with a sharpness factor over "x" you are a criminal. You may not have over 4 steak knives in a home. Plastic knives become illegal because they are not "green".
