Default CMP Garands Turnaround?

My order for two 6 million SN Garands reached the CMP on the 11th. I got an email from Cathie Eden on the 18th telling me they received the forms and verified them on the 11th. Now I'm in line for the sales department. Has anyone else ordered around this timeline? Same wait for you? How long is the turnaround? This is my first order to the CMP in 12 years.

Could be days, could be weeks. That email you got on the 18th was the "don't bug us" email. For the past few months people have been reporting getting rifles within 2-3 weeks, but apparently they're pretty busy with the 6 million SN garands, the kimber 82g's, the rimfire ammo, upcoming matches prompting more buyers, general election time paranoia prompting more buyers, Obama's gun ban comment prompting panic buyers, CA's pending long gun registration in 2014 screwing with CMP purchases, etc. etc.

Nothing to do but be patient and wait.

Well, there is one thing you can do...

If you paid by creditcard, you can always keep checking your statement online for a charge from the CMP during the business day over in Alabama to see if they processed it and just haven't updating your estore account and notified you about shipping yet.

I may or may not have done this while waiting on a CMP order in the past.

CMP forum keeps an order timeline. It looks to be around a month. http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread....28081&page=310

They're extra slammed with the rush for the 6 million SN Garands. I sent an order in on the 12th (NOT for a 6 million SN Garand), had it delivered on the 15th, and didn't hear anything from them about it until today. I'm not holding my breath for anything before Thanksgiving, just to keep from getting my hopes up.

I ordered two 6 million SN rifles, but also put if not available two Service Grade SAs would be OK on the order form. You would think if they are out of the 6 mil rifles, the Service Grade SAs would ship faster. Who knows, there's always tomorrow.

I'd imagine that regardless of whether they're out of 6 million SN rifles, they're still processing orders in the order received, so if they've got a bunch of orders for 6 million SNs but are out, they're probably contacting each person individually to find out what they want instead, which means it'll take even longer than if they had 'em in stock.

Saturday isn't a business day, I wouldn't expect anything(even if they shipped today, it wouldn't go out till Monday, making Tuesday the earliest day to receive it, so there's just no point in them doing it today).

Plus like we already said, just wait. You may end up waiting days, possibly weeks. The standard DBU email after they've sorted your paperwork states 30-60 days. Just be patient and wait.

Back in the DCM days it would take up to a year to get your Garand and you got what they sent you.

They are still working on shipping orders that were received on the 9th, so you still have some waiting to do.

Very true. I waited for over a year to get my once in a lifetime M1. Patient is a virtue. Load a bunch of ammo while waiting. By the time the BWT arrives before 10:30 you'll have lots of ammo loaded up.

In my rush to send my order in for the 6M I forgot to sign page 1A and 2A. Linsey Smith called me Thursday and told me I need to send the two signed pages. I feel like an idiot as I am usually very thorough with CMP documents before I drop it in the mail but in my rush to make it to the PO for express mail, I did not sign the two pages. I did sign the credit card authorization so I did one thing right. Oh I did asked he if they will fill my order and she said YES.

Mike, When was your order for 6M received? If you have not heard anything by now you more likely did not make the cut for the 6M,

While that may be true, I put a sticky on the order stating that I would take two service grade Speingfield Armory Garands if they were out of the 6 mil guns. No word of that either. :^(

You got word on the 18th according to your original post. 30-60 days is not up yet, be patient.

edit: Just because we're in the days of almost instant gratification buying things online, doesn't mean that the CMP has caught up to that yet(doubt they ever will to be honest). You said this is your fist order from the CMP in 12 years, I know you've had to wait on them in the past, you can keep waiting now.

I will continue to wait another week before I bug them again. It just makes me jealous to hear of all these other guys getting theirs while I chew my fingernails to the quick!

Don't be surprised if they put your order at the back of the line for bugging them after they told you not to.

Keep in mind that CMP just got to opening their recieved mail from 2 weeks ago. They are super backed up from the 6mil S/N rifles. Just last month the wait time from stat to finish was 3 weeks and now they are slammed so prepare for a long wait.

I'm sure that is good advice. Guess I'll just have to be more patient. It won't accomplish anything trying to find out anything. Maybe the less requests for progress of orders, the more time to process them. Maybe I should just take my frustration out on my M1 Carbine and a couple of my Enfields at the range. That should make me feel a little better.

Default CMP Garands Turnaround

I got a call from the CMP today. I was told my order has been on hold since the 26th of last month due to a hold on my NICS check. A complete surprise to me as I have been buying firearms in Kalifornia all year with no problem. Customer service told me they wait 30 days from notification of the delay, then send me a package to get my fingerprints done at the local police station and send them with an appeal to the FBI (I guess). WTF! I was also told I could wait a couple of weeks and it may get released in that time, but the FBI does not tell them the reason for the delay. I came off a ten year restriction of not being able to own guns in Kalifornia for a misdemeanor that I regret, but it is in the past now. The minute it was over I was able to buy guns here. I have a letter from the DOJ saying I am eligible. Don't they do a NICS check when you buy a gun here? Crap!
Oh, and I missed out on two 6 million SN guns because of this. They are out.

CA probably does do a NICS check as part of their process but they also know the issue was resolved. So by the time your 10 day wait is over it's been cleared. But nobody told the NICS. So in theory NICS should contact CA DOJ and figure it out. And if not you go through the process and send in the paperwork. The good news is you'll get a PIN back that should prevent problems in the future.

What a bummer OP. Hope it clears up soon!

I"m feeling like you did before the notice of delay.
Here is my timeline.
Sent Oct. 26th
Received Oct. 29th
DBU Nov. 7th
Now for the long wait (thanks 6mil guys :| ) for estore
My order is for a HRA Service Grade. Figure I'll just wait a month before checking again.

OP if you could keep us informed as to the progress on your order, we'd appreciate. I'm pretty sure everyone here is pulling for you.

I am having the CMP send me an appeal package so I can petition the FBI for release of my application. It might be the only way to move this along.

CMP called me by phone 3 weeks ago to tell me that there was a hold by the FBI on the NICS. They also told me it might clear up by itself in a couple of weeks or it might not. They were sending me an appeal package that required a fingerprint sheet and a questionnaire to send directly to the FBI. This should be OK as I have been buying guns for a year here in California after a ten year restriction for a stupid indiscretion (not domestic violence) and I have a letter from the DOJ stating that I eligible to own and buy guns in California. I have heard nothing from the CMP since.

Well I mailed in my paperwork on 10/15/12. A few days later they emailed me asking for a birth cert. I complied and faxed it a day later. Have yet to hear a peep from them.
No e-store, no reply email saying they got it, no return phone phone call message from lady asking for birth cert.
Hoping for the early Christmas of two green plastic boxes with service grades (SA & HR)
on the porch. If they get here after 12/15 I'm going to put them under the tree and open on Christmas morning...What a suprise!!!
I really hope they arrive when my Libratard neighbor is watching!

UPDATE: I just went to the mailbox and lo and behold... a large envelope from the CMP. My appeal package has arrived. One thing though, the letter accompanying the package says they cancelled my order while this is resolved. When I talked the the women in administration over the phone, she said she would put it on hols until this is resolved. Maybe the letter says it was cancelled because it was a generic form letter. The appeal package to the FBI requires a fingerprint card. I would rather not take this to the local LEO. Anyone know of other official sources of fingerprinting services?
