If that's true, it would have made one hell of a fireworks show and been all over the media.

It might also be the reason there was so much damage. The FD would have let it burn. Too dangerous to fight a fire with a container of ammo.

No way FD would let anyone up that road.

Well on their Facebook, it says they're officially open, which was posted an hour ago... FYI, they have pictures of how the bungalow office looks, but judging by the other pictures it seems the fire didn't impact the shooting areas much.

Oh, great. $2 bucks off. Lemme call all the boys to run over there and save.

$2 bucks off so they can steal $12 worth of your new brass.

Ok, just got back.

Both sides are open.
Didn't go all the way to shotgun bays, but rear benches are ok and overhead cover is untouched

Pistol side cardboard hanger frame is brand new.

The new office is more spacious than before... old office rubble is still there.

BAD NEWS: 2 porta potties is all you get, so expect lines.
Also, no soda/water machines that I could see so bring your own refreshments. Or not, given the porta potties.

On the drive in you can see the entire area got hit with fire pretty bad. A lot of downed trees. Very few spots still have green. I am kind of tempted to get the video of the drive in off my dashcam and post..

Overall the experience is still the same.

That's weird, one would think, cinder block, metal and porcelain would survive a fire.

Thanks for the update.

Lots of debris and most of the building is now half the height so I assume it was being demolished.

Here is a video of the ride in.
At the end (when i am leaving) you can hear familiar sounds.

Most of the video is silent. Music was too loud.

I was there today. There were few empty benches on the rifle side. First 10~ benches off limits (caution tape).
Great experience like always. I'm glad they reopened. Few new RO.

The range facilities such as benches, covers are fine, though the range office and restrooms were burn down.

1 million in ammo won't make a huge fireworks show. In order to have ammo go off "like a bomb", you need a pressurized container.

Near the end of the video, they burn 100,000+ centerfire rounds in a semi trailer. It burns like anything else.

Also went yesterday. Some pics below.

Aside from temp trailer in picnic area in lieu of main office and first 10-15 stalls on rifle side cordoned off due to big dumpster at 50 yards, it felt/functioned same as before...and porta potties

I think they did a good job of getting it up and running so quickly.

Help wanted sign for RSO's. Not surprising since employee turnover was predicted.

What's left of main office

New office

Two port-a-potties wont be enough for the weekend shooters (probably isn't enough for the weekday shooters).

This. Ammo in fire just pops open. Of course you do not want to stand next it, but there is no big explosion.

Funny thing, you can not fit a million dollar worth of wholesale ammo in one container.

Funnier yet, why would anyone store/warehouse a million dollar worth of Ammo? Did they have an extra million they could not do anything else with?

How much ammo do they sell a week? Do the math and you see the scam they are pulling for insurance money. Like the go fund me deal they had.

Lending more credence to Heidad's point: California charges you a tax on inventory on-hand. It would get very expensive to keep that much ammo handy.

Another number of pictures from today visit.
I like this place and I made annual membership to support Angeles range thru this time. It not expensive and hopefully will give them opportunity to improve.

Thanks for the updates

Very surprised the wood overhangs and benchs made it through unscathed. In addition to the large pine trees. Let alone the reload store.

Could have been much worse

Its great to have Angeles open again. Stopped by yesterday and it was packed! Line moved quickly, operations still running like normal. Its amazing the roof to the pistol and rifle side never caught on fire.

But I have to ask, who thought it was necessary to put a band of yellow safety tape around a big bright blue dumpster?

Bumslie and i spent the morning and early afternoon at Angeles on the rifle side.

Not crowded but not dead, some deer shut down the 300+ portion for a while, but we were just sighting in some new rifles and scopes at 100 so by the time we were ready, it was free fire again.

Beautiful California January weather, mid 70s, almost no wind today.

Good day for shooting.

The worst part was the RSO actually announced over the loud speaker "...and don't shoot the blue dumpster."

Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot put a couple rounds through it.

The new office is in the BBQ area between the 2 parking lots, before you start heading upto the range.

I have seen cars drive up and unload.
