Default My Saiga Conversion

Here's my Saiga conversion I did last weekend. Thanx to everyone of Calguns for all the links, tips and advice. Mine's got the Mako M 4 type stock. Tapco upgrades and Bushnell Trophy Red dot. Tapco trigger is so much sweeter and really happy with the Mako stock.

I like that pic better. For some reason the sun made it look a different orange type looking color. I wish it was that color, it looks better IMO than the dark brown i have.

I literally used a white crayon. It worked fine for the 7.62 but for the Saiga it for some reason didn't turn out as well. I'm going to try and re do it with a thinner crayon. I also heard melting it a little helps or something like that.

I actually used it on my AR and it worked much better on it than on my AK. It looks much better on my AR as well. And no, it doesn't come off easily. You just color over and the holes will fill in. Then get a clean cloth and rub the excess around the letters and it will disappear and just leave the letters filled in.

Always itching to post my CAI M74! Please note that I'm an AZ resident so my guns aren't in Cali configuration.

I bought my Century M74 back in June. Immediately ordered some Bulgarian 74 furniture from Apex (POPULAR STUFF!) right before purchasing, just so I'd get the wood on the same day. I refinished the rifle using Rustoleum high temp engine paint, and did the wood with Minwax sedona red with some polyurathane over top. I replaced the black pistol grip with the Bulgarian one which is what you see in the first photo, but have since then replaced it with a Tapco orange grip just for another compliance part (never hurts to have more!) I'm looking to refinish the grip but I can't seem to find any sort of techniques to marble paint the way I'd love for it to come out.

Sometimes people make idiotic statements, because they don't know what they're talking about.
....... and it appears to be the case, as there's no other reasoning behind that statement.

lol didn't mean offend anyone. I should have said "stuff" instead.

I had this guy ask me 20 ****ing times if it was a Saiga, I said "No, it's a romy g with a K-var furniture"

Sorry FiveSeven, didn't mean to offend you, cause it seemed like I hurt your feelings.

Honestly, I like saigas, but I prefer my home built.

Not offending me at all, takes a lot to (usually you'd have to be someone close to me).

Just never came across anyone who actually own a Saiga and though it was crap. Good quality rifles for what they are.
If anything, they better made/engineered than Mini 14/30, will be problem free and reliable in it's stock form.
Even with that stated, opinions are just that....... Someone with first hand experience with the product has little bit more credibility, but not always.

ok i agree you with you sir.

I will admit that if not building one, Saiga Aks are the best for the price and reliability.

You always have a negative opinion of things unfamiliar to you simply because you don't have experience with them.

You should reserve judgement until you try something or actually know first hand.
