Default aero precision price hike

Anyone else see the crazy stunt they did this week?

99.99$ lowers
The day before the release of lowers they said they needed to raise the price due to hiring more staff and new machines.
Ok fine
The day of release the site was not working right when you checked out and then the price jumped up to 200$

I kmow some will defend the market situation etc but many others also say its not right or fair to those who were checking out

What say you?

I say whatever helps them justify the price raise and helps them sleep at night. It is what it is, but when the prices do go down my business will go to the companies that are for the people not their pocket...(BCM, DD and my local dealer)

That was a cluster F***. I was online at 10 right when they went in stock. Lowers were in stock at $150, put a few in basket and then it kept crashing when I tried to check out. Must have tried 10 times. Thats an hour of my life I'll never get back.

Supply and demand. And whatever brings prices down from $4-500 is okay with me. They probably won't stay that high, but the increased prices will offset the funds needed for labor and machinery.

Businesses are funny that way. They wanna make money just like the rest of us.

If you don't like their prices then don't buy the item. Simple really...

An AR lower isn't life or death. It's only something you want and are crying cause you believe the price is too high

If they need to bump the price to cover their investment then that's what they have to do. and I do what I have do to.

Wait until the panic buying is over and they are selling for $79.95 once again...

Naw.

You don't amortize a new machine tool in such a way that will require you to more than double your prices. That's a load of hooey.

AP is playing the market right now. When demand drops, so will their prices.

$99.99 hike from 79.95 and you are complaining? Try this on for size:

I'm sick of people complaining, while whenever someone posts that something is in stock, it's gone within minutes. Why do you think prices are so high? because people keep buying. Stop it. Just stop. Law of supply and demand. When demand wanes, prices will fall.

I picked up a lower at Turners Chino Hills today. Bought it for $129 10 days ago. Not a bad price, not a perfect price.

Now if I can find some reasonable parts I will be fine...hahaha

You can, especially if the firm is a credit risk or doesn't want to pay a high interest rate on their debt.

The market is very high right now. They can avoid paying interest on their debt by raising prices and paying it off sooner rather than later. This is the safer position for AP as they can always lower prices, but it's relatively hard to raise them. Lastly, if they're they only ones with lowers, they'll sell out priced at $200.

No you won't. You will buy from the cheapest place with the highest quality. And when those places slash prices because they over produced, you won't demand to pay a higher, "fairer" price.

And if AE goes down in price you will buy from them too. If you don't and you pay more to teach the gougers a lesson, then you are no different than the people paying a higher price now.

I am not in business for the people. I am in business for profit. Customers are willing to pay higher prices right now. If they didn't think it wasn't a fair price, they wouldn't pay. I am going to maximize profit because that is how capitalism works. It really is that easy.

Weird how when a business raises their prices to what the market will pay, they are evil. If the price is now too high, no one will buy and prices will fall, but I would be willing to bet that enough people will still buy at the inflated prices. Not sure why so many people get upset, capitalism, Econ 101. This is one of the few things left that made this country great. More power to them, it will insure that they will be around when the panic evaporates.
Ten percent, I agree you beat me to it. I can tell you if there is ever a panic run on mechanical systems my prices will go up to meet what the market will pay!

Because a lot of people are closet socialists and would be happy with a fixed price.

thats not entirely true. there are a LOT of people who wont bring business back to stores/sites that they feel were taking advantage of the "crisis". On the other hand, most actual stores are asking FAR more reasonable prices than individual sellers

People who are willing to pay high prices now deserve to be ripped off.

In investing, what do you call those who buy high and sell low?

free-market is more than just asking as much as someone will pay. if you make a lot of money during a crisis but the result is that after the crisis you lose a lot of customers, then you did it wrong. Thats essentially what people are complaining about. If your customers feel that you are taking advantage of them youve got an issue coming

So they will lose customers. Like I care. As a consumer it is up to me to make sure I get my money's worth and don't overpay.

If certain businesses want to charge high prices in response to market conditions, then let them. I'm not going to overpay on something I can do without. I am not going to whine about it either because it makes no difference. I am also not going to hold grudges towards them because it's childish.

If one day they have something I want at the lowest price on the market, I will still buy from them.

It's the flip side of free-market economy. If everyone stopped buying at high prices, then prices WILL fall.

How is that difficult to understand??

If no one buys from CTD then they will either, go out of business, lower their prices, or maybe they are independently wealthy and just sell firearm components because their doctor told them to get out and get some exercise not for the profit. Where were all of you when real estate prices went through the roof, same situation, people were more than happy to pay $900k for a house worth $350k a year or two earlier. Prices will come back down when the demand falls, until then the owners of these businesses should get what their stock is worth ie...what consumers are willing to pay.

a price increase is fine imo given the market conditions and if they really did get new equipment and staff.

price gouging just b/c they can well then i won't be in any rush to buy from them in the future as it demonstrates a lack of integrity to me, but i can't blame them for doing so and hence wouldn't totally avoid them. in this case for aero, a $100 to $200 increase is fine, im talking like $600+ because they know people are panicked and edgy right now like the CDNN example above (funny b/c they always sold things at close to the lowest prices in the past...). but if someone is willing to pay for those prices, then why shouldn't someone else be allowed to sell at those prices?

also remember the housing bubble?
edit: valley beat me to it on the bubble.

Maybe they want to pay off the mill or whatever tool they bought or maybe the raw material went up in price and they needed to raise prices or maybe they cant order more material for a while. IF i i did have a gun parts manufacturing business i think i would rather deal with suppliers/dealers before i would even remotely entertain dealing with the general public. Just to put it in perspective it would be like buying a house for 200k when a identical house down the street sells for 450-500k. If you compare lower pricing in today's arket

And I am willing to bet for everyone that said I will never go shop at xyz shop because they gouged bla bla bla as soon as that shop had a sale and they had the lowest priced whatever they needed I bet a lot of those people will run down and buy whatever they were looking for and forget all about the "gouging" that they were never a part of because they never bought anything at that store in the first place.

Capitalism died along time ago with our rights. Now we have corporatism and privileges.

Capitalism is alive and well in the gun industry...weapons and related product demand skyrockets and the price follows at the same rate...capitalism in its simplest form, some people just don't understand the concept.

Don't hold your breath. IF the prices drop they will drop prices also and have people lining up for purchases. Don't fool yourself that everyone is gonna remember and not shop there and even if they do remember most wont care because it will be cheaper than the other guy or on sale or whatever.
Amazing how many people feel they are somehow personally taken advantage of when a shop raises its prices, considering they probably have not bought anything from that store at high prices therefore they were never "gouged".
I keep seeing people who find good deals on lowers or parts or ammo. But they gotta search high and low for that deal.

Material prices didn't double. Capital equipment like machine tools are depreciated over 5 years not 2 months, etc. etc. They are gouging.

And you're quite correct. I have every right not to buy from them until they stop.

This pretty much sums it up. Either your price is good, people like it, and they buy or it isn't. It is extremely hypocritical to criticize someone for paying more for an item now and then vow to pay for an item later out of principle because you won't shop with a "gouger". For some reason the unprepared's decision to pay more is not respected, but you feel your decision to pay more not to support a "gouger" is noble.

Hypocrites.

Stop being hypocrites and just buy from the place that gives you the best service, availability, and lowest price. Life is that simple.

You can only be gouged if you have to buy it. No one has to buy any of this gun business. Simply don't buy. The bubble will pop, prices will drop dramatically, and then you can get a smoking deal. I know that is what I am waiting for and I am not going to back order a ton of goods like I did last time and get stuck with them. I will just put what little I get on GunBroker, let the market set the price, and survive that way until the bubble pops and everyone has overstock and cheaper prices again to continue normal sales.

The only hard part is figuring out when the bubble will pop.

fyi, BCM sold their BCG's on ebay for $300+ each. maybe not directly but either through a proxy seller or some kind of back door bulk sale.

but like you said, it is what it is. panic markets make otherwise sane people do insane things.

I find it ironic that there are folks complaining about price gouging when many of the same people are going to be the first ones to low ball another member in the sales section for a "Deal"...........
