Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Hello,

May I invite you to spend a day (better yet, a weekend) east of San Diego, there is a very low cost ($5 per lady shooter) rifle marksmanship clinic this October 31-Nov1. The Appleseed Program teaches people how to shoot rifles. Bring a sack lunch; at noon we'll tell how New England farmers and their families dared to win this Liberty we enjoy.

If you do not have a rifle, just request it, and I will reserve a loaner rifle for you to use. Ammunition will cost $15 for the weekend, that's 500 rounds of 22 rimfire. 22 rimfire rifles offer very low noise, low recoil, and thus are great tools to learn the basics. You will be shown how to operate the rifle, and how to handle and shoot it safely. A long sleeve shirt is good to wear.

This is a great program for beginners, and many men, women, and kids who had no previous experience shooting have done quite well. You will leave the clinic knowing how to shoot a rifle well enough to teach others.

The clinic will be held in Dulzura, CA at the South Bay Rod and Gun Club,
event info and sign-up is all here:
http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=4053.0

I hope you can make it, and if you need a rifle, just ask. Bring friends, and we'll find rifles for them too if necessary.
(edit- to borrow a rifle, please make arrangements in advance, there is a limited number.)

NRA has instructional shoots in their Women on Target program. Here's a link to the schedule. Courses fill up very quickly.

not a woman but a man who has an above average insight into what is important and how to teach women... my wife has taken numerous classes from this guy and when she started she wanted nothing to do with the ancient A##holes who she had encountered at most shooting ranges.. thanks to the instructor, she is now a multi disciplined NRA instructor and a POST cert. rangemaster and runs the business we have at Kernccw.com... she is a full time firearms instructor here in kern and it all started with classes from:

TJ Johnston
All safe defense

if you have any shooting questions, my wife would be glad to correspond... (here I am volunteering her...boy am I in trouble! :-) ) I am sure...

just email at our website and ask Becky to respond...

also,
I believe Greg Block has a female instructor who works with him...

You might check out Firearms Training Associates. They teach a ladies handgun & self defense class from time to time at Raahauges range in Norco. The head instructor is a female retired police officer.

I also highly recommend TJ Johnston. He is a first rate instructor. I took his Basic Handgun class in 2007 not knowing a thing about guns. I was the only guy in a class full of women. Today, I consider myself very proficient with handguns and also a pretty good shot. I credit TJ in teaching me the responsibilities of gun ownership, firearms safety and marksmanship. Until today, I still train with TJ and consider him a good friend. His rates are reasonable and he is very patient. If you still want to be taught be a woman, TJ also offers "For Women ONLY."

http://www.allsafedefense.com/Courses/WomenONLY.htm

One of my classmates in my Basic Handgun class came from the "For Women ONLY" course. She joined my Basic Handgun class a week later.

On-Target Range has some woman's only classes taught by the daughter of the owner. I highly recommend them for ladies looking for an introduction to shooting. My wife attended their intro course and had a blast. She now shoots more often than I do!

Where are you located?

If you want something informal, Im sure a local, experienced Calgunner would be more than happy to help you.

Unfortunately I am not a female, but if you are in Sacramento I can help show you the ropes at a range.

I've introduced many females to firearms and they usually can outshoot most "guys" within a few sessions. My wife's third time ever shooting ended up with three cops (two of them women) begging me to give them private lessons. I couldn't do it because, I'm not a certified instructor and I was working at a range where we had a highly qualified instructor teaching out of our facility. I didn't want to step on his toes. Anyway, if you are ever going to be around Santa Clarita, it would be my pleasure to help you out with whatever shooting related problems you might be having. I really prefer to teach women and children because they listen and don't have a testostrome problem.
