Wtg Old 30-06 brass
Recently my grandpa found a box of old 30-06 brass in his closet, about 100-120 pieces its pretty dark oxidized but I thought I would offer it to someone. If anyone is interested in pics it'll take a few days but I will try to post them. Btw I'm in sandiego and would only be interested in a ftf pick up. First I want it + a pm gets em.

Cool it worked! I just posted up my first picture! Yay me!
anyway there's the brass I'm gonna keep the ammo box, they are pretty oxidized as you can tell, there are some gonners in there and maybe even a 308 case or 2 please be sure to check the cases as I said they have been in a closet for a long time and I take no responsibility for the shape they are in. Other than that I hope you can use them. |

Old brass by Glamisduner, on Flickr Before: Brass 30'06 by Glamisduner, on Flickr Clean Enough for Sizing (let my tumbler run over night.) Old brass by Glamisduner, on Flickr Some of the brass just won't cleanup all the way. I tossed a number of pieces like this one back in to trouble with the remaining brass. Can these still be used or should I discard them? This particular piece was dated 1942! |

Keep for historical purposes, do not try to reload and use. I suspect that it will lead to a jam in the press if you are lucky, a jam in the rifle if not. Besides, 1942, that was probably part of a production run that ended up going to war being that the Garand was the service rifle at the time.

Yea there's a number of pieces from 42 and 43, most of the bad ones are those years too, but many of them are in the semi-clean shot above. Some of those cases took a a lot of force to re-size. I somehow even bent another zip-spindle in my hornady die, didn't even notice at first.

I'm swaging the primer pockets on the 42 and 43 pieces now so i'm guessing they have never been reloaded.
A couple pieces marked 61 look like they may have been reloaded, and I can't tell on the commercial brass if it has been reloaded before or not especially since he didn't trim the brass. It took FOREVER to trim all the cases on my lathe trimmer. Brass is starting to shine up a a lot more after the second tumble. actually I'm not really sure how to identify commercial vs military, unless it's marked LC or something. I'm just assuming all the military brass has crimped primers, and commercial does not. Then again there's a bunch marked LC MATCH, that has no crimp, so I'm not sure if these would be considered commercial or military, but I'm guessing they are still commercial.
