While I give credit to the Sheriffs dept. for making the effort Is it not blocking your rights by an unreasonably long delay to get your appt. (due process)? It is not going to get any shorter unless they take steps to staff the process. Also be careful I can see the MSM putting out a negative story on all the people that want CCW's and how it will put a bunch of gun wielding crazies (us) on the streets of OC.

my email got kicked back too, but I kept calling and got a hold of Melissa. Shes very very nice, so be polite guys! My apt is not til 8/26 LOL damn.

I called this AM. Took me about 40 mins to get through.. As of 0840 they are booked out until the first week of August.

I just got through as well this morning (2/24/2014). Last week of August appointment obtained.

Eventually they are going to have to refine their process. Once they realize there is no need to see the applicant in person, I would think they'd be dumping the appointment requirement.

EDIT: Other people are saying that the emails bounce, regardless of how they send it. They could be taking time to regroup and shut it down for a while. Plus, someone reported she said (ominously) to keep an eye on their website for any press releases. Makes me wonder if changes are in the works or they're just reminding people that the case isn't finished legally yet.

A friend of mine just called the OCSO to schedule an appointment for a CCW interview. He was given the run around. Bounced from mailbox to mailbox, was told to leave a message, and was not given a timeframe in which to expect to be called back. Are people having any luck with the OCSO?

Many are receiving an automated "undelivered" response. Her email inbox is most likely full.

I've been hitting redial for 3 hours straight. Its going straight to the full voice mailboxes every time. People are getting August appointments now, at some point they are going to have to add a deputy or four to the process or something. We are approaching a 7 month wait just for an appointment. I can easily see this turning into a 12 month wait. Give it a week, they'll change something to speed up the process. They are going to have to, or someone is going to run to the papers and complain, I'm sure.

I agree, it is going to take time to get their process and staffing worked out for the "new normal". You may even want to push on county supervisors for funding.

As of noon 2/21/14 appointments were being set for 7/1/14.

As of 2:00 PM 2/21/14 they were setting appointments for 7/22/14.

Just called ... mine is on 9/24/14. I hope they start adding manpower to this to help pull some of these dates in otherwise some folks are going to soon be out in 2015 given it's not even been a week since OCSD changed their posted policy.

Chill folks, I got my appt for September 3 at 12pm today, they are buried in requests. Be nice and pleasant and understand that Melissa and the rest of the folks had no clue it was going to be a torrent in requests they are doing their best to answer and process calls as quickly as they can. I expect given the backlog that the OCSD will add more staff and more officers to conduct interviews soon.

When i spoke to her she had not left her desk at all that day and was just trying to answer as many calls as quickly as possible.

I just talked to her, she didnt say anything about her email not working, she asked if I had emailed her, I checked and she replied about 5 mins prior to my email from friday. she mentioned they are scheduling appts for OCTOBER!
