Prosperity doctrine
Looking for opinions on the recent story about the Evangelist seeking funds for his 4th and latest private jet aircraft ($54 million) so that he may better
(without having to stop to refuel) reach out and spread Jesus's message. Personally, I think it has a bad odor. |

you know what they say about a fool and his money....preachers scamming people is nothing new. that guy Peter Popoff made bank off selling "miracle" spring water to black people for years. makes me mildly angry that theses mega churches can claim tax exempt status.

This man must have big balls to knowlingly scam people IN THE NAME OF GOD, using His Name in vain, and not fathom that there’d be serious consequences if indeed he believes that God exists.
There’s room in hell for people, clergy included who lead others to God yet are consciously unrepentant sinners themselves. Last edited by Burble74; 06-01-2018 at 10:34 PM.. |

I am certain he believes in God & sincerely thank God everyday for creating all these people who gives him money. God has chosen to bless him with the talent & opportunity to make millions. He absolutely believe that God exists.

The best liars don’t just convince people because they’re good story tellers. They so darned good at it because the people they lie to sincerely want to believe the lie.
Health/wealth gospel is so pervasive in America because it’s part of our national story — part of our national mythology, if you will. Manifest Destiny is an early form but it still comes out elsewhere. It’s so ambient that you hardly notice it. So we’re easy suckers for it. Most wont fall prey quite so easily as those who attend televangelist churches (thankfully). But a lot of folks can only see it looking at the results (wealth) but not the message itself. |

I'm not going to say anything bad about the guy because I don't know who he is.
But I believe most ministers live humbly, at least that's what I think. He doesn't seem to be living modestly.

You don’t need to know the man. He’s asking for millions of dollars for a jet. Christian or not, that makes him a band person. He’s greedy. As a minister, it’s even worse. It’s disgusting. What could those millions do to change the lives of others positively? (Please note, I’m not implying being wealthy is in-Christian. It isn’t.).

He is the poster child for people who tell u these guys are in it for the money. He lives in a 33,000 sq. foot house in LA. Now, if you can get people to send you money for a new jet, that even most movie stars can't afford, I say do it. On the down side, this is exactly why the non believing population grows year by year. Guys like him, and Creflo Dollar, (can u believe that last name) at least he shows what he wants, fleece the public. No one is making anyone give these guys money, but just like snake oil salesmen of old, the gift of gab gets in their wallet. Remember Jimmy (I'm so sorry I like hookers) Swaggart? Jim (let's make a Christian Disneyland) Baker? Well, at least he went to jail. Again, the saying, "a fool and his money, etc"

One of the Twelve was a treasurer, so Jesus and his posse did have enough cash to need someone to look after it...of course, that person was Judas.
I'm not defending Plane Number Four in any way. Frankly, I think it smacks of earthly greed but, I don't think the Bible insists on any sort of false 'modesty' for ministers. Balance....

Bro Bill, go easy on Bro Jesse, if you don't want to send any $$ to him, no one is twisting your arm. I am well aware of who he is, and consider him to be a for real man of God, your point of view is a little pushy, God is Jesse's judge and yours and mine as well.

I believe God allows men like that pastor to fleece the flock. God wants us to develop discernment, judgment and maturity. God uses the difficult consequences we suffer to develop us. When I heard about that pastor and his need for a jet, I knew, I would never have a desire to listen to his sermons.

Jesse Duplantis IS NOT a pastor. He is a evangelist in Louisana. For mr eta34, he is not a fraud to me, is to you, help yourself. We in the Christian community should very much consider not being judges, we are instructed concerning this clearly in the New Testament. If he doesn't connect with you, move on.
Psalm 1 |

Sorry. It has nothing to do with “connecting.” It has everything to do with a man fleecing ignorant and vulnerable people for personal gain. Please tell me the biblical necessity of a luxury jet. Feel free to cite relevant scripture.

They had luxury items and transportation when Jesus and the Apostles were on the earth yet we did not see them asking for those things to be provided to them. I believe that Jesus and the Apostles should be our example for christian living today.

We are called to judge those wolves in sheeps clothing to protect Gods word from being manipulated. Jesus, not only our savior, but also our example, judges many including most harshly the Pharisees. They were people who strictly loved by the law but missed the most important factor of God’s gifts. Love, compassion, forgiveness, and grace. The Sermon on the Mount is a series of condemnations of the Pharisees. John the Baptist judged King Herod, Paul the apostle had some harsh rebukes specifically in Romans, and on and on are the stories of Christians judging.
I’m not to familiar with this “evangelists” {scammer} teachings, but I will attest to the validity that there is NO reason for him to spend $54 mil on ANOTHER jet. Anyone who thinks they can align that thought process with the Bible has some BIG issues. Quote:

The prosperity (faux) “gospel” is evil in disguise.
Joel Osteen Joyce “Liar” Meyer Kennith Copeland Benny Hinn Kent Hovind Creflo “gimme yer” Dollar Kenneth Hagin T.D. Jakes Jimmy Swaggart Peter “pop’n off” Popoff Lonnie Frisbee Mike Warnke (the fake “Satan seller”) ...and countless others are ALL charlatans in my opinion. The top 3violators of twisting Christian doctrine in my opinion however remain to be Osteen, Meyer and Copeland..... https://youtu.be/2xmrPpZs1fg

My dad is a T.V. christian. He doesn't believe he sins. He doesn't believe God is omniscient, He is completely illiterate biblically. He doesn't attend a church. But He'll give money, so he can oblige God. Its sad and maddening and many other things.
