Custom leather holsters?
Hello all,
Not exactly a CCW holster question but this seemed like the best place to ask this.... I recently picked up a Smith & Wesson 327 trr8 and I was hoping to get a OWB holster and moon clip pouches made for it. The list of leather holsters for this gun is already pretty small, especially for the larger barrel trr model. I am looking for someone preferably local to the San Diego or Southern California area, who can make a holster custom fit for my gun, taking into account my small light and RMR optic. Does anyone know somebody who does good quality custom leather work? Price really isn't a concern if the quality is there. Thanks!

I have ordered custom leather holsters from Jackson Leatherworks, they do top notch work, not local, but worth the wait. Here is there website, they can give you an estimate if you email them:

If you need truly custom I know a good shop in Illinois but expect to spend $300 to $600, also know a shop in Texas but can't say what they would cost. Also my daughter knows a guy in San Juan Capistrano that does holsters and scarabs for Cowboy Action shooters, parades and some TV types. Again, not necessarily fast, he mostly does saddle and harness work, but he is good, and could probably get you in contact with him for a custom piece. When it comes to leather there are tremendous number of variables, and custom work generally has no returns. |

Here is the link to Triple K. Technically I am a dealer for Triple K but I don't really do much leather, but their quality is excellent and with a little care you will pass this holster on. https://www.triplek.com/

Thanks for the link and the suggestions! As far as how fancy I want it...plain leather is fine. I am hoping to find someone who can make a holster that is fitted for my revolver with a cut for my RMR. So really the shape is the only part that I need to be custom.

Please notice that Triple K makes holsters for hunting scopes the RMR is not a problem. Again the guy in San Juan could do the job, Triple K is likely less expensive. Give them a call. If they have the rig you can get the number and who stocks it. If they will do it custom but want a dealer then you can use me as the pass though.

New leather holsters
I ordered one at a gunshow. The guy took 2 months. Great holster but it is a little tight. I guess it comes with a new leather holster. Anyone know how to loosen up a new leather holster?

Stick the unloaded gun in a thick ziploc bag or a thin dress sock, then jam the gun into the holster. Leave it for a week, and better if you wear the rig around the house as much as possible with the bagged gun in it.

Not sure how much custom work he does, but TT Gunleather (NorCal) does awesome work, he made me a IWB for my 645 which was not on his model list.
May be worth a call. http://www.ttgunleather.com |

Also in the past have bought IWB and OWB for my Sig P938 and a "Mike's Special" for a 3" 1911. The OWB pancake style holster I received yesterday is a thing of art I love it! |
