Default Santa Margarita Gun Club update

SMGC will be back in operation very soon, if you are or were a member. The club needs your help. Full details are on the face book page and club web site. But renewals are needed to pay for the lease. Please renew as soon as you possibly can. There is a life of lease membership available at a very nice rate considering the rate increases. Payments are due by Sep 15 2018 to be able to shoot this year. After that due to base changes in access policies you will be required to wait till January and get a Dbids card or have a military ID, details on that are also on the web site.

The club supports the following disciplines
Mid range and long range Service rifle, Palma, NRA Highpower and F class,
CMP Service rifle XTC, and PRS style matches to attract a broader base of membership

There is also discussion between the club directors and Pendleton to lift or modify the caliber restrictions currently in place. That should allow a few more shooters to participate in future Midrange, Longrange, and PRS events.

Thank you Paul, I did forget to mention that. The club is pushing hard to get the caliber restrictions lifted and this will allow a lot more shooters to enjoy the gem of a club SMGC is. if everything goes right they are going to try for a match in October.

The club is planning to set up a NRA Midrange "match" (600yd) in late September or October. There is also plans to put together some future intro clinics for Long Range, F-Class, PRS, and wind-reading.

More info will come forward on the club website:

Just to be clear, do I have to wait till January to join as a new member?

You can join now. Club is in a speeded-up mode to process memberships. Go to club website and click "membership" download and print application and send fees before September 15th. If you wait, next membership may take over a month to process because of the new ID requirements. Either way, it's good thru all of 2019.

Be advised the website has not been updated, regular membership is $100 per year. Associate membership is $120 per year, Life of lease (five year membership) is $400 or $80 per year best deal. Dues must be in the hands of the club on Sep 15, not in the mail by, or postmarked by.

Please see the thread by Ditchdigger so that I'm not mis stating or duplicating information

Club status thread

I want to remind people of the gem of a club that SMGC is. Even with the current caliber limitations we have access to 600 and 1000 yard ranges. Annual membership is a bargain. Local gun ranges that offer memberships start at close to $200 a year and don’t have access to more than 300 yards. The highest price membership is PWG at $750 a year to shoot 100 yards indoors.
