I love the pack. The handle on mine (above the opening for the rifle) started to pull through. I called Eberlestock and they said that they had a run of packs where this was a problem, but he could fix it for me no prob. I'm going to send it in after I get done with these next couple matches.

Probably not. Thats just a big piece of fabric with no padding in it. The purpose of my mat is focused toward field shooting so it will have minimal padding only for the elbows. This will make a mat that folds up nice and compact for storage in a pack. What I think I'll do is place some velcro at the top of the mat to match up to another larger piece for use as a blast mat. That way you'll be able to attach it if you're in an area where its needed and still have a normal mat when its not. I'll come up with a few different designs, but I like the idea of it being modular. I'll try to have it done for the APS match.

Modular is a good idea but I'd suggest either large buttons (bdu size) or snaps to attach - hook & loop and field don't mix that well IMHO

Good call. I like the big buttons. Snaps have never been good to me.

I got the stock pack on and I think I am going to put it on another rifle. It made things a little to tall on my rifle, unless I didn't have it on right. I will still bring it Saturday for assistance.

Cool. I'd love to see it...since I'll have one setup almost exactly the same in a few weeks.

The sps. I'm doing the sps in 308 for my practice rig, and the 260 custom with a stiller action for comps.

To remove a stock from the action? Two hex screws and you're ready to go. Pull off the bottom metal/ trigger guard.. pull out the magazine box.. lift the barreled action.

Do either of you have spare remington 700 Triggers laying around that I can have or buy since y'all have all these super custom rigs?

I know that

I mean krylon. How hard is it to remove if I change my mind or when it is time to send to Randy (or what ever gunsmith if he hasn't started taking work).

I have one. It is an X-Pro trigger and not the old one.

Whew.. I was hoping you knew I don't think people actually remove Krylon.. I think they mostly just paint over existing jobs.

So how much would you sell the trigger for? I'll take it for a fair price.

Krylon is pretty easy to remove. Maybe a little too easy with an AICS. The plastic that is used with them is so smooth and "oily" (for lack of a better term, long day, brain not working well) that nothing wants to stick to it. Do a search over on SH about the AICS pre-painting prep that goes on. I can't remember what's used, but a solvent of some kind, be it acetone, alcohol, etc.

Jason-the stiller doesn't come with a factory trigger I'm just going to put a rifle basix on it.

Its easy to remove with rubbing alch, thinner, gas, carb cleaner, gun scrubber. But mostly if you boo boo just paint over.

Just read Ryan's post - before you paint rub your stock down with rubbing alch a couple of times until it looks a little whiteish and dull, wipe down good with a rag and paint. That's what I did with mone and its held up for the past six months of abuse with no problem.

Cool deal.. I'll look for it. Out of curiosity, are you using some sort of stencil or a free-hand job? I have two stencils from Bull Dog Arms and a few cans of aluma-hyde II I have yet to try.

Free hand job I like free ones

I am going to do the action in brown. I have brown, khaki and black krylon camo. I am not sure of the pattern I will use. I am going to do the action probably tonight and decide on the stock after the match.

I said "free-hand job.." NOT "free hand-job" Haha.. sick bastard.

I'll be going the stencil route. Maybe I'll take pics of my progress including the bedding job.

I can't figure out if I should do the camo piece by piece or the rifle as a whole. The difference being that parts like the barrel above the forend won't receive any paint. I assume it would look better doing the rifle as a whole since the pattern will blend better under close observationg.. but how do most people do it? Just the base coat piece by piece?

Lay down your base coat on individual pieces.
Then assemble and spray the rest of the accents so that everything lines up properly.

I'm thinking Gap in brown, black and tan or just order a green and call it a day.

Not really actually. Places are rarely completely pitch black which means that solid black will stand out like a silhouette. Gray would be a better choice if you had to pick a solid color

well, i like the look of the all "black" rifle. i have no intent on using it in an urban situation anyways, unless shtf scenario.

So where do those of us that have AI-AW's and DTAC SPEC-TAC-LR's/T2k's hang out?

With all the other guys that have far too much money to blow on guns.

Actually, it'd be nice to have you around at the matches. Where are you returning to from Afghanistan?

Keep ya head down and your vest on till you get back and come shoot with us. I'd love to play with that AW to see how different it is from my build.

Well to clarify, my spotter/shooting buddy is the AI guy. He's got a AI-AWP that is ridiculously accurate.

I'm more the space/game gun guy and love my T2k. Need to upgrade the glass through from my S&B PMII (never thought I'd find a better scope than this) to the DTAC system.

Worst comes to worse, if I can get the new glass on, I'll either run it or my Kodiak 6 Ackley or the GA Crusader in 243.

I got bit by the bug hard. Just need more trigger time.

Rich
