I checked a 17 out and want one but trying to justify four 17's is tough... plus that 17L slide. That's a lot of the same gun for me.

Got mine layaway. Will be DROS in a few months. I have too many layaways now

Actually, I don't really like the RTF as it's too aggressive than the old gen3, but anyway, I will put a talon on it, and the fish gill serration looks special. Also get the night sights from the factory.

Would the slide with gills work on a Gen4 G17?

Hmmm...

Only thing more aggressive than the original RTF2 is a Talon Granulate - of the stuff I own anyway. The new run is a little smoother... polymids aren't quite as sharp. Granulates stick like velcro to your hand.

I'd say YES. I just put my G22 RTF fishgill slide on my Gen4 G17 and it fits and function checks fine. I'm sure what works between gens is well documented, but I definitely don't keep up with it and stick to shooting the same gen slides on matching frames.

Picked mine up a few minutes ago at Sacramento Armory. While I was there I bought a Ruger LCR in 38 (consignment but unfired) for $327 out the door. I can't post the pic yet because I need to blur out my 4473 info that is in the pic.

Correction. I got the LCR for 324.99 OTD. Just checked my receipt. Not bad at all for an unfired consignment.

Get them while you can, i picked up 4 of them myself. Shot the first one yesterday. Absolute tack driver that was glued to my hand. Shot it side by side with a my gen5 17. The 17 was noticeably smoother and was able to eject case perfectly with no mag in the gun.

Fine, whatever. I grabbed one today. 17 RTF with night sights. Don't need to dick with the sights on either of my RTF 17's.

how do you like the Vickers/Wilson sights? I have dawsons on my CZ and M&P so i'm inclined to get another setup from them. But Vickers and TTI have similar offerings so still doing HW on them.

I was at the range and made the mistake/blessing to handle a RTF2. First glock one that I didn't hate the grip when I picked it up. Comparing it to the OD34 they had for $630. Grip was like that Ah ha moment with the RTF2 then lacking when I grabbed the 34, obvious the trigger pull weight was different. I believe that should be easy/cheap to sort out. So I picked up my first glock ever. Need some sights and see how the stock trig works for me. Seems crispy enough and pretty tactile. Unlike the M&P9 I got last month. This one set me back $499 + fees from Discount Gun Mart near seaworld.

I like them ok. The bead in front is easy to pickup... I have Dawson FO on a G17L and Ameriglo FO on other Glocks. I just found some Ameriglo FO sets for about $36 on Amazon so I ordered a couple sets, probably for a G19, G26, but might replace the sites on that G22 RTF. For Gen3 I usually leave it be or install a minus or ZEV V4 connector... just ordered two more Zev V4's today - typically $15-$20 shipped. Walmart sellers have had decent deals lately. I think the one I bought from today was ECOP. They sell a lot on EBAY.

Regular FS models were $499 locally but I paid $60 more for the Ameriglo three-dot night sight model.

Op, thanks for the heads up. Had one sent to my local ffl and am waiting on the 10 days. I got a 17 a few years ago and between the excellent grip and it feeling slightly smaller in my hand I felt I could shoot it pretty well. Now it has a fancy trigger and a glock 34 slide and is one of my favorite to shoot. Not sure what finish is on this last batch but my original had a real slick finish and between that and the fish gills, while looking cool didn't really care for it but still couldn't pass up another one. Sure wish I could get my hands on the rtf2 G19 or maybe the vickers glock, pretty sure they use that grip.

These Ameriglo sets for about $36 each set seem like a great deal.

I loved the old Silverstone-like finish... real tough. It is on both my G22's (RTF2 and 22C).

I put my Vicker's mag releases in the Fishgill 17 and a G19 last night and the Zev connectors in the 17 and 26... taking the 26 and 19 to get the rear sights pushed today. Fishgill 17 hasn't even been to the range yet - not like it will be any different than the Vickers RTF.

Let me ask ya thiz... "To most People" Is it well worth it for buying the RTF/2 and adding a talon grip to it.? I see no used of doing this, that fact that you're just covering up what the gun is design for. If adding the talon grip to it than more suggest just buy a gen3 and covered it over. It is so Lane and pointless to even doing it. This apply not only to the RTF/2 but G4. They made it the way most people wants it because their are lots of people that crys about the G3 is or so is too slippery for them hands so the talon has to go on it. The whole purpose why glock did what they did to the frame so that people does not have to worry about adding any grip or stifling to the main frame. In this case that why glock doesn't update their glock for so many years before they get tried of hear the same old same questions. This is just my point of view but some may agree with me

The RTF2 frame is true perfection. No talon grip needed.

I'll tell you with my thiz face just like this... I have a Talon on a gen3 and it is the best grip possible and shrinks right to every contour when installed correctly with heat (heat gun or hair drier). Most people don't matter. Do what you want.

Gen4 and RTF2 are fine as-is to me - the fewer add-on things to buy the better. I don't give a thiz if I am most people or not.

Your post is preaching to the choir. IMHO.

You answered your own question...no on the talon grip.

If you haven't bought one yet, you should starting hunting now. It has been very hard trying to acquire one from an online dealer. I picked up what seems like the last one from UG Imports and is on the way to a FFL.

I was looking only for the night sights version, but had to settle for the regular stock-glock sights because I couldn't find anything else.

Every store I contacted by email or phone said they did not expect more to be shipped in or had no idea.

RON at Armory Outpost (Rancho Cordova) has two of EACH left as of NOON 11/28. Two regular and two with night sights. Should be selling around $500 / $560 IIRC which is about the best you'll find.
