Default "J Frame" Question

What effect does removing the Sear have on a S&W J" frame? SA only or DA only? Thanks in advance for your thoughts..

Now it's single action only. Removing the sear is how people SAE'd their off roster double actions to bring them into CA.

There's a DA sear and a SA sear.

The DA sear is the one that looks like a lever and is pinned to the hammer.

The SA sear is part of the hammer itself, the notch on the lower extremity.

It's fairly easy to remove either one, you need a hammer and a punch for the DA sear (gun is now SA only), and a grinder for the SA sear (gun is now DA only).

*SAE = Single Action Exemption, not SSE = Single Shot Exemption, that was for semi-autos.
