Default Anybody want a Remington 870 with a factory detachable magazine?

Well, now you can get one:

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...-fed-shotguns/

I'd like to try one out. With the ammo closer to the center of mass I assume that it should swing quicker than a normal HD shotgun with a full, extended magazine ...?

I'm quite sure commieFornia will find a way to ban this, if it isn't illegal already.

this may replace the current one. IF available here behind the iron curtain.......

Almost all of the Remington DM shotguns are CA legal.
^The only variant that is not CA legal is the 870 TAC-14DM, this is due to it being considered a SBS under CA laws.

This needs to be merged with the other threads cackling about Remingtons financial troubles and claiming they dont make anything anyone wants to buy.

Let’s see if this works. I had to fast forward it 5 mins.

http://remington.yourbrandlive.com/c...64153453581863

I like it. I could see using it in the duck blink and swapping out mags if geese come in. However, not sure how if it would be quicker.

I also like the idea of using it as a HD shotgun when the season is over or I come back from a hunt. Slap the 18.5” barrel and 6 round mag in.

I just bought a 70s wingmaster, and as someone who appreciates a detachable mag here and there, this is something I have no desire to own. I'll stick to the older, well built examples.

If 6, 9 or even 11 shots of a 12 gauge isn't enough (depending on mag tube extension) your probably using the wrong gun.....

Yep, if I think I need to reload a shotgun is the last thing I’ll use. Not to mention how reliable it might be.

Or not. Nothing wrong with having an effective gun having the ability to quickly reload for more rounds. .

I really like it; will get it without hesitation.

Few are saying they don't make anything anyone wants to buy; I sure like the ideas and endearing models of many of their rifles and shotguns. Someone commented the Remington 700 is still one of the best guns you can build on, and that's certainly true. But out of the box, the quality is just not what it once was.

However, like myself, what most people are saying is that their quality and reliability have gone way down hill the past several years. This has been seen in a general descent for Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS and Marlin guns, and among just about anything Freedom Group/Cerberus has touched.

Yet, with a shake-up in management 2 years ago, and again recently, there is no doubt they realize(d) they were losing a mark of quality and customers.

Mr. Acitelli served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Taurus Holdings from July 2014 to October 2017. Mr. Acitelli previously held

there's a cool factor, i guess, in that you can reload faster or change to a different type of load faster.

probably can't "top it off" while engaged...which isn't good considering it doesn't have a high capacity to begin with.

but then if it can be mag fed, if can probably be drum fed....

Hopefully it'll be attached to a shotgun with better fit and finish quality than Remington has been putting out for the last few years. Imagine buying yourself a nice new mag fed 870 - only to have it start rusting, refusing to feed certain rounds, the sort of complaints that have been all too common in the recent past.

Bottom line, it's good to see some innovation at Remington - but they'll have to pick up their quality game if they want to stay in business.

lol, like most guns, i imagine they will be used mostly on paper or steel.

besides, when the zombie apocalypse comes, you'd be able to get a few more before you get eaten.

or they could be popular, like john wick.

csb - i recently met one of the guys (a calgunner) that trained Keanu Reeves for JW2.

You should read the other thread about Remington's financial woes. Several people explicitly said remington isn't making anything anyone wants to buy.

I disagree with the sentiment, i just bought a 700 ss 5r.

Dont they make kits like this already? All the did was pin the mag well on. If they made it more intergrated into the frame that would be cool kinda Like The 760

Gah-why couldn't they have sold this back when their quality was good?!

Want but don't trust new Remingtons from personal experience.

Yes there are a couple different aftermarket conversion kits out there for 870 and 500.

Don't know anyone who has one-so have to rely on internet posts and reviews to acertain if they are good.

And what I found with both kits pretty much ranges from"this is awesome" to "this is absolute junk-don't waste your $$".

So I'll pass on the kits..and keep an eye on buyers of this new Rem to see if it actually works.

Pros:
1) Looks kinda cool
2) Faster reloads

Cons:
1) Less magazine capacity than extended tube models: 6 vs 8.
2) You will (most likely) smack the back of your wrist a few times until you learn to keep your arm in a different position while cycling the action.
3) No 2 round magazine available, so the gun can't be used for certain types of hunting. This problem can be remedied with a mag block.
4) The extended magazine may get in the way under certain circumstances (shooting slugs from a bench rest).

Agree..she's kinda ugly..but(more importantly) if she puts out.. I may hit it.

I'm thinking Trunk or Truck gun..ratholed somewhere in vehicle..possibly wearing one of these for compactness folded.

Can be legal- as gun will be unloaded..but loaded mags right next to it for quick loading.

http://www.blackacestactical.com/ bas been doing this to Mossberg shotguns for a while. Always been tempted by a magazine fed pump 12GA!!

I would prefer an 870....

Kinda worried about the arsebackwards mag release though.

On the wrong side of mag-ready to be hit with your hand when you pull forend back.

That's kind of my take, with the limited capacity and rate of fire with a pump shotgun I think feeding shells on the fly seems ideal.
