Odd anouncement. The capability has been there for a few weeks. See the threads in CA 2A Politics and How CA Law Affects Me forums.

I think that since no one is registering (outside of the calguns people ) they are advertising to reiterate that its the law.
Not one person who I know who isn't a member here is registering, even when I explain the new laws. But then again, I live in a small town in the mountains where many bay area people have flocked to for the sake of laws not really being followed by our local police and municipalities. |

No one I know outside of this site even knows about the new laws... and they don't seem to care either when I tell them about it...
I will register, but I will be waiting until the latest possible moment.... I forget where I saw it on here, but I have my info in, for the class action lawsuit to not register... There was a link here, and I had correspondence with a lawyer firm about it. Holding off until something comes, or doesn't, of that |

The only people I know of who are registering their firearms as AW's all work at gun stores, which leads me to believe they have rationalized their own fears and convinced themselves the only way to survive is to fall in line.
For what I hope are obvious reasons, I disagree with that rationale.

Most are converting to featureless or fixed mag and not registering.
But there are some guns that you have no option but to register if you want to remain legal - like VEPR or Saiga 12 ga shotguns. IIRC, AR handguns also fall into that group since you can't make them featureless and most won't want to convert them into fixed mag.

I won't be registering ANY Rifles. Nor will I turn in any magazines I bought legally with my hard earned money.
Come to my house bring Backup. Bob PS. This is my decision only.

hahahhahaha wait.... hahaha
when the law was still being written I figured they would let us remove our bb because an assault rifle under ca has features. I thought long and hard and was leaning to register 1 but a bb= assault and a none bb= assault bs no thank you they get nothing.

Registration compliance for the first ban in '89 was very low also. Then the State upped the pressure, threats, and advertising (with tax dollars of course) and compliance increased somewhat.

Some people say yes and some people say no. It's up to you. If you don't want to risk it, you can break it down in two pieces while transporting.

Not a good idea??
I don't mind breaking it down for transport, wasn't sure if use of an unregistered bullet button AR was something that ranges are not allowing or if it's actually even being enforced by anyone yet. I'm guessing it's not the range that actually cares it would be leo. Last edited by 02Caltaco; 10-07-2017 at 7:02 AM.. |

If you owned an evil-featured rifle prior to 2017, it's legal to use and possess. You just can't transfer it. After June of 2018, it will only be legal to use and possess if you register it. Even if you wanted to register it now, it's impossible to do so. I haven't heard of anyone's registration attempts being successful as of yet. So until June of next year, it's business as usual. Keep on keeping on.
