They weren't too packed last Saturday. Usually just a handful of people, though they aren't the fastest either in dealing with individual customers

I always do Turners in Pasadena, those guys know me long enough. Also, their line might be long, but the question is...where isn't long?

Aegis Trading in Burbank. I've done multiple PPTs there. Quick, cheap, no drama, and willing to work with you to make things happen. I bought a revolver from another Calgunner in December, and had a proof-of-residency issue as I had just moved and had nothing with my current address on it. Turner's in Pasadena wouldn't help, so we went to Aegis, who took care of things, no muss, no fuss, and no line They are my go-to for PPTs.

I ended up going to enterprise arms in irwindale. Good customer service. They weren't too busy but only really one worker helping.

Don't go to Bain and Davis if your ppt an AK, they'll refuse to because "Those are in the grey area of the law"

Alamo loan and jewelery is a good place to go.
It's very close to Turner West Covina.
Fast service and also have the reasonable price and good selection of firearms.
Gunrunner is the place that I'll never go.
I have been burned so many times.

+1 one for Enterprise in Irwindale. However I think the actual spelling is EntREprise.

I have had excellent service there, though I have not done a PPT.

Went there a few days ago, very friendly people. Bought some 9mm ammo that was reasonably priced $14-$15. A little bit of fud from an employee (who thought it was legal to buy a rebuild kit and assemble a 30rd magazine), though he did say he would have to check with his boss to be sure.

I would say Entreprise is a builder and retailer, and I've NEVER had to wait in line there, so that is one +1 for them. Right next to the Santa Fe dam entrance, and they've moved atleast 3 times in last 12 years.

Anyone have a number for what a fair price for total PPT costs should be?

***NM, just called and Turners pasadena charges $35, pretty reasonable.

Fair price for PPT? It's regulated by law. $25 DROS and the dealer can charge a maximum of $10... so that's what they charge. Some places have charged a "storage" fee for your guns while it's in jail... which is illegal and unethical.

I don't really like anyone for PPT... seems like most places don't like doing them, because it's a lot of work and not a real money maker. I abhor Turner's for PPT because they add in tons of layers for no reason other than because they are Turners. For a seller it's okay, but for a buyer, you go through the ringer, not to mention the wait at Turner's is ridiculous... every one of them.

The worst one? San Bernardino. Met a CG'er to PPT and we both ended up arguing with the manager who insisted on being wrong with the law. We both told the manager he was wrong and got fed up when the manager straight up said, "I am in the business and you're not." Then he said how he hates PPT's and wishes he didn't have to do them. Yep, to our faces. Nice customer service, no?

Well, douche nozzle, you are wrong, even if you are in the business. Idiot.

Ah yes, the gun lock scam. Turners sells you one of their cheap ones for $7... you know, the same one that you get for free at the police departments with the Gunsafe project?

Good: OC Armory in Laguna Hills, Gun Gallery in Glendale, Annie's Get Your Gun in Corona. All are really nice people and are really fast with the PPT's. No fuss, no muss, in & out in 15 minutes or so, and they don't get all up in your grill like some shops if you bring in something unusual.

Bad: Any Turners~!

The best ever was T&A Armory in Santa Ana. Their computerized program was simply the best I have ever seen and you type and click and if you are a repeat customer, your info can be pre-populated so you don't have to keep doing it over and over again everytime you go.

I think I've done PPT's there in less than 10 minutes. Too bad they are gone. The owner just lost interest in the business.

+1 on using Alamo in West Covina. They are quick and professional.

+1 on NOT using Turner's. They are incredibly inefficient and slow. Many of their salespeople seem to be there simply waiting for their shift to end and don't care much beyond that.

Which worker? The owner is a bald Asian dude with colored contact lenses and the worker is a young Asian kid, barely college age. Then they sold it to the fat Hispanic dude. All very cool people.

The Turner's in Pasadena is great, I actually prefer my PPT there over others such as Bain and Davis.

You must have gotten lucky at Pasadena Turners. I've had to wait no less than 30 minutes, if not more, everytime. Then you get the plasticky Made In China lock for $10 forced on you... I hate that.

Their service is better than the others that I've been to, but their lines and the long, redundant procedures where everything has to be checked a few times by multiple people gets tirign.

I spoke with Christopher about getting an AR sent from out of state, and he seems like a nice guy.
If I decide to go through with the deal, I'll let you know how it went.

Have to warn against Martin B. Rettings in Culver City for PPTs; they give it very low priority if they're busy and have been having an annoying tendency of forcing transferees of buying a pistol case or rifle sleeve if they don't have one because of "safe storage" during the 10 day wait.

I'd rather buy a pistol case than be forced to spend $7 for a $1 Made in China gun lock at Turner's for every PPT.
