Default Where to find 77gr ammo for upcoming class

Taking a SPR class in June. Anyone know where I can get a case of imi or CBC 77gr 556? Or similar mk262ish ammo below $0.70/rd. These new laws are terrible, I used to order cases for $500 shipped to my door of the CBC/magtech 77gr

Good luck!!

No idea where you are, adding a location may help.

Iíve looked in the past and Iíve never found local stores stocking much if any 77 grain, what they had were small in quantity and high in price.

Iíd suggest ordering online and paying your local ffl to receive it and transfer it.

find someone with 03ffl and coe.

have them order online and ship to their house.

both goto FFL and do a PPT of ammo and pay the $5 fee (if the gun store is even aware you have to do this for the PPT ammo currently, july 1st has more procedures added on).

easier than waiting for it to get to the store, pay the potential "storage/processing" fee and then also have to pay sales tax on the ammo (and before anyone says you pay tax for online purchase too, i say... bwhahahahaa)

24.0gr RL15, LC Brass, CCI BR4, and any quality 77gr BTHP (Lapua Scenar, SMK, Berger, or Nosler CC) = WIN.

Target Sports USA (Prime membership) has Federal GMM 77gr for $165.51 per 200 free shipping (add tax). They have IMI 77gr at $344.77 per 500, but out of stock right now.

I would suggest NOT rolling your own. I'm hoarding all of the components, I don't need any competition.

because spraying 100's of rounds that take hours to reload is not fun.I mean the shooting is fun not all that reloading. picking up all the brass. don't have the time. I enjoy reloading but those classes could be taken with cheap 55 grain ammo. I wonder why he has to have 77 grain? I took an informal rapid fire competition with cheap steel case Russian ammo and I saw they had 75 grain silver bear. it was excellent for that type of shooting

Got it. Makes sense.
But yeesh it seems a bit high for the .77? Reloading be cheaper? Well excluding the steel case.

"Taking a SPR class in June"

I think if you are taking what amounts to a precision shooting class, you want to be able to shoot with some accuracy. Cheap 55gr ammo is not know for its accuracy. But quality 77gr can shoot around MOA in most decent AR's.

Sending Hail Marys at 600y with 55gr is sure to piss off the rest of the class.

tell you what there are so many offerings of 55 grain ammo that it is very easy to find one that will shoot in your rifle. yes for a precision class good ammo is a must and a heavier bullet.

I shot some Tula 75 grain HP at 100 yds. nailed the target board to a 4-5 inch tree. it shot pretty good for $4.95 a box but what we could not believe is it went thru the tree leaving a big exit hole at 100 yds. if the OP can get a box of it to see if his rifle likes it he will be lucky

Because itís an SPR class out to 700m, and Iím shooting a Krieger barreled KAC LPR mod1 that shoots 1/2 moa or better all day long with mk262 77gr stuff. If I was taking a regular carbine class I would definetly be shooting 55gr out of a chrome lined mod2

Dang, I'd consider the class but I will be working in Oregon that weekend.

Oh I see. I thought it was one of those speed combat matches where you wail away at stell 25 yds running from one station to another. some how precision 700 yds and an AR just don't go together for me. a bolt action in 308 or the creed would be excellent at 700 yds. can be done with an AR barely and better hope there is not much wind

you need to watch your mouth junior. I shot more times in matches then you got hair on your head. 700 yds and ARs are a bad mix. good to waste time and bullets. I have a 22-50 with 1x8 twist 26" barrel for that type of yardage not a silly AR with a short barrel

Target sports USA has a decent selection of 77 grain in the $0.55 range. Probably too late for your upcoming class, but if you plan to take more classes you should seriously consider getting your ffl03/coe

I ordered a case from Gunbroker.com and had it shipped to Gunfighter Tactical...
