Default INDEX THREAD: 115th Congress, 2017-2018

INDEX THREAD FOR 2017-18 Federal Bills

Procedural Note:
Bills submitted in the 114th Congress, 2015-2016, are alive until the next Congress convenes, Jan 3, 2017.

Bills submitted in the 115th are alive until January 3, 2019.
CONGRESS.GOV is the official record of bills proposed and in progress.

It also has schedules, members of the House and Senate, access to the Congressional Record, Committees and members - lots of interesting and important stuff.

Remember: Different from California legislative practice, neither house of Congress has any time limits beyond the beginning and ending dates of the Congress.

* Bill threads need HOUSE (S. for Senate or H.R. for House of Representatives) and the bill number in the thread title - even if the text is not yet available to quote or summarize.

Example: H.R.1234 - Boehner "Sunless tanning lotion bill of 2015"

* The body of the thread, first post, needs the link to Congress.gov or GovTrack or other web link where bill content and status may be found.
