Default EMPTY 9TH SEATS

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2017/...regerson-dies/

Another Liberal bites the dust. Pregerson's prior seat has been collecting dust for 2 yrs.

The Donald needs to pick up the pace on Fed bench appointments. Especially the Leftist 9th Circus.

Getting young conservative judges on the ninth should be a priority.

Splitting the ninth would make more sense IMHO.

Not sure about that. Gorsuch is relatively young and RBG is old. But if you look at conduct on the country's college campuses, I would have to agree that for the majority you are correct, which is a sad commentary on our institutions of higher learning.

lowimpact--I've been pro-Trump since he came down the escalator, but Trump hasn't even made the appointments for Mitch McConnell to do anything on.

Trump has made 471 nominations. Of these the Senate has confirmed 249.

If the Ninth is split, we would lose whatever conservative judges now sit on the court, because I am pretty sure they all hail from other states. The proposal to split the Ninth would leave California and Hawaii in one circuit, Arizona, Montana Nevada joining a different circuit. And there go our rights. So be careful what you wish for.

That's a congressional issue, not singularly with the president (although he would need to sign said bill once it was approved by Congress).

Not exactly. There are several proposed ways to split it and it would need to be split into 3 if not 4 parts most likely. You also forgot about Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho (Guam and Mariana Islands too I think?).

Any court system that uses state/territory lines will always give big sway to California, it's just a huge population, no way around that part but if you could isolate California you could dampen the effect if has on tilting such a large and unruly court.

No reason both cant happen, and I dont think Trump himself needs to be spending any time on splitting the 9th until something is actually introduced on it.

Good point, no reason both can't happen, you're right.

Trump can't spend any time on splitting the 9th, it's not up to him. Article III gives that power to congress.
