Here's one. No pics attached. Know why? Because I shot 40 168 grain bullets at 1.4 moa target at 800 yards in variable, gusty winds and didn't hit it a single time. Not once.

Truth shall set you free (or at least reasonably priced)

I usually shoot irons only, but this was done with a cheapo 4x carry-handle Barska scope. The reticle is so fat that when you're aiming, you can't even see the X-ring, the 10-ring, or most of the 9-ring. So the bull is essentially cut into 4 "pie slices", and the only way to shoot is to try and keep the 4 slices equal in size.

Th0se 4 close shots were just under .5MOA according to the software. The flyer opened it up to just under .9MOA.

I haven't been able to shoot under an inch with irons for almost a year now. Maybe my eyes just can't do it anymore and it's time to build a precision rifle with really good glass. I've been resisting doing that for a long time because it's always seemed like cheating to me. (I know it's not, really.)

Ammo is Hornady .308 Win 150gr SST. Orange squares are 1" not sure what pink dots (office depot stickers) are but they are smaller.

All pics show 5-shot groups. @ 100 yards

I commented in your reloading thread and it seems your loads are way too light if you have to open the gas block that much for function. I forgot to ask in the other thread, but what is your ejection pattern with factory loads? Your gun with factory loads may be overgassed and sometimes you can tell from ejection pattern.

Nice! At what distance?

Next outing, use target with half inch dots, one round per dot at 100 yards, shooting prone off bipod, getting up and back on the rifle between each shot. If too easy, do it timed.

I'm zeroing my AR15 at 25 yards non magnified. It took me 10 shot to get the center (the other 5 shot is already cover with that sticker). Then put small stick-on target and fired 3 shot. Still dead on zero. I know it sucks that it took 10 rounds to zero it. But my scope sucks. It has 6 moa and it's covering the center target at 25 yards.

Just started reloading recently and am working up a load for my Remington 700. 41.5grs is looking pretty good so far. I pulled some shots on other runs so I need to practice more.
Specs
.308
175 SMKs
Varget
FP 210 primers
Hornady once fired brass
2.800" OAL.
5 shot group at 100 yards.

Here is my set up at the range. Rifle specs:
Rem 700 SPS Var .308
McMillan A5
Jewel trigger set to 1.5lbs
Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 F1
Nightforce lightweight rings
Badger M5 DBM +2AI 10rd mags
EGW 20 MOA base
Harris Bipod
Triad stockpack

Need more practice, it is insanely addicting.

100 yards benched, irons, about an inch. Can't do better than this, lately. Think I need some new glasses. Or maybe I'll just throw in the towel on my post-prime eyes and buy a scope:

My youngest son and I shot in a .22 cal "match-stick" last month yesterday. He used an H&R M5200 and I used an old Remington 513T with a Bushnell 3200 10X40 scope.

The match was shot first thing in the morning and it was a bit cold (low 30's) for these parts. Winds were light and variable. Beause of the low temps, we had to get the rifles warmed up and rezeroed. The match was shot off a front sand bag rest with nothing other than your hand for rear support at 50 yards.

Here is my warm up target for the match. Unfortunately, we turned in our official targets.

There were some small bullseye targets above the match sticks, but I gave up trying to re-zero my rifle on them because of the relatively low power scope I was using (10X). Most guys were using 18 to 24 power scopes. I started using the match heads as an aiming point and finally got my rifle back on target. Best group was a 5 shot group fired at the #9 match head....around .39" ctc.

I was using Federal "auto match" ammo.

This is my son's H&R 5200 with a B&L 6-24x40 scope.

As I said, it was pretty cold for these parts and it seemed to have affected the zero of the rifles. We had to re-zero the rifles a bit to get them back on target. The match was shot off a sand bag front rest, no (except for your hand) rear rest At 50 yards.

Here is his warm up target. Unfortunately we turned in our official targets. The bullseye on the left and right were to warm up and re-zero the rifle. The center group (.403") was shot to to confirm the re-zero. You can see some of my son's match stick hits as he settled in on the target. He was using the CMP black box practice ammo.

I'm kinda interested in what honest-to-God target ammo would do.

Best group of my life, shot this last Saturday:

Just over 0.35 inches, 5 rounds, 100 yards, from the bench.

This was from a new batch of handloads using Ramshot TAC, 69 grain Noslers, Wolf SR magnum primers, and Lake City brass.

I usually shoot irons, but I also have a cheapo 4x Barska mounted to the carry handle. Normally I shoot just as good with the irons as with the glass because the reticle in the Barska is so fat, it's hard to aim precisely with it. I used the glass on this one and lucked out. My other groups that day were about an inch, a couple slightly less, using either irons or the glass. So yeah, this group is cherry-picked for sure.

Took my rifle out to p2k today. After some scope adjustments and doing their 25yd test I headed over to the 100yard range with my $60 NC Star 4-32

Not bad for being a fairly new shooter. The odd balls on the left were from rapid firing my last few rounds. I'd really like to see how I could do with a nice 3-9x40.

The 223 on the left is wolf gold match, the one the right is 77 grain smk. all shot at 100 yards at davis street san leandro. the 308 group was a custom ar 308 using a criterion barrel. The 223s fired from a daniel defense barrel custom ar-15. Both have wilson combat triggers. US optics for my 308 and acog chevron for my 223.

Go here:

http://ontargetshooting.com/download.html

and download the software and install it.

Instructions are online and in the software. There is also an "FAQ" page on the website.

Basically you take a picture of your group, or scan it on a printer/scanner (which is what I do now, and probably more precise). Then you copy the group pic to your computer, open the software, import the group pic, and then it's just a matter of:
  1. telling the s/w your hole size (.224, in my case)
  2. showing the s/w a known distance on the pic, for reference (the 1-inch X-ring, in my case)
  3. inputting the center of each shot (this part is imperfect and subject to user honesty)
It's really easy once you do it a couple times.

The software is free but if you like it the guy who made it will take a $12 payment, which I recommend.
