The sad part is I don't want to take anybody's firearms away.

However, this makes more sense than all the crap we hear from our "leaders" about why we shouldn't have ours.

The natural corollary to this argument is to ban religion, as most prisoners are religious.

The problem I have with your idea is once you let the politicians start taking away guns, is they wont stop. They can easily change their party and vote to take your guns as well.

[QUOTE=bm-bill;10891999]Just saw a great one!

I greatly dislike the Republican Party and most of what it stands for.

Even so, I vote Republican in close races in the California State Legislature. I vote third party in races that are not close, and in California's U.S. Senate "races". In quotes because the outcome is preordained.

I do so - against my prejudices - because of the Democratic Legislature's continued full-court press to attack my 2nd Amendment rights.

I own guns and I vote. Democrats should remember this.

I'm also a member of the Pink Pistols. Everyone should have the right to the tools of self defense. Even those with whom I personally disagree.

Actually I see that on the CNN Comments a lot—the minute you advocate RKBA, the CNN Liberals call you a tea-party, red-neck, child-killing, gun-industry-brain-washed, gun-nut, neanderthal hillbilly.

The Caliban have already disarmed more than half of the PRK and subjected them to gun-aversion therapy brainwashing—and those have joined them in trying to get the guns from the rest of us.

Sums up my position pretty squarely except I am not in the Pink Pistols and I perhaps find a bit more in the GOP's idea of smaller government and more self-reliance instead of perpetual handouts though they often want to reduce only the corporate watchdog part and are all for more government prying into private lives and drones used domestically. I turn pink when I get pissed off though (Pink Pissedoffs?) which pretty much any time listening the news of the Caliban in the PRK legislature.

Would it not be better to focus the attention on keeping guns from the criminal and support 2a rights for law abiding citizens. It seems to me splitting the forces between party lines would be a defeat for all but the criminals.

We need a "this isn't really 2nd amendment related but I'm going to put it in here anyway because everything is 2nd amendment related" meme.

Uh, the Mississippi delta, Rio Grande Valley and central Alabama are high density population areas? Learn something new every day I guess.

Felon voting is a state issue and the poster is right; there is agitation in some states to give them back the vote... and its by democratic groups.

"Forward this to everyone you know."

That is, the authors of that miserable excuse for free speech advocate taking rights away from folks with whom they disagree.

Epic fail.

Well, it's the from right, so what do you expect from a party and ideology still mired in 1827?

I like it. My preferred libertarian philosophy doesn't seem to be working, so maybe we need mandated legislation like this. We could also expand it to only democrats have to pay their "fair share" of taxes, and republicans couldn't get abortions or same sex marriage. Everybody's happy.

End of tongue-in-cheek post.

I wouldn't want to ban anyone (violent felons being the exception.) from own firearms to be honest. The right to self-defense is absolute, and in my opinion denying someone the tools to defend themselves is the same as denying them the ability and the right to defend themselves.

As an aside:

My idea of an American Utopia would be if a married, inter-racial gay couple, who legally grow pot for profit on the side, uses their AR-15s and/or shotguns to defend their adopted kids during a home invasion.

Yeah, I think that at least everyone can find something to be pissed off about with that sentence. I personally would have no problem with any of that...
