Looking for a sub-3" blade, locking pocket folder, drop-point, quick and assisted opening, adjustable clip position, on the lighter-weight side. I'm not a metalphile so preference on lower cost, but would pay for a better package. Any suggestions?
Currently have a Kershaw Cryo (1555G10) which I don't have any complaints about. There's a lot of nice knives out there at 3" exactly which technical is over my counties lawful length. |

Mini griptilian is a great option, super fast, light and strong but pricey because its u.s. made. Some people argue that it had one of the fastest deployment.
Kershaw Leek is another option. Small blade with assist but not a drop point. |

So if you have a CRYO that meets all requirements, why are you looking? CRYO is a good cheap import knife that works fine. I had a G10 model for a while and gave it away, but it was one of the best small import Kershaws. They have so many models, just go to the site and filter for 2-3" blades in your price range then check tech specs for 2.75" or 2.9" blades. Seem to be many nice looking ones... https://kershaw.kaiusaltd.com/knives/knife/fraxion https://kershaw.kaiusaltd.com/knives/knife/pico |

I just received a SOG Flash 1. My first impression likes: - Very light and compact. - Clip is reversible and positioned high so only the clip shows while in pocket. - Opens well for a thumb stud spring assist. Dislikes: - Very light and compact. Handling isn't as easy as a slightly larger knife. The index finger groove is awkwardly close to the next finger groove. - A little bit of blade play. - Blade lock seems unnecessary and point of failure. - The blade lock rattles a bit while blade is closed. We'll see if this is an issue in pocket. - (preference) Because of small size, thumb stud is not as easy to open vs. larger knife or flipper. Overall, it feels like a cheaper made knife but still can serve a function at a nice price. I think I'll find some use of it, but the search continues. Might have a spend a few more bucks for more premium models. |
