Talking San Diego AK Build Party March 9 - March 11, 2012

Post here if you want to be on the guest list for the:

San Diego AK Build Party March 9 - March 11, 2012

Location is in East County San Diego down a dirt road (cars can make it down the road easily).

We need people to bring 12-ton presses, drill presses, air compressors and Parkerizing Solution for this party to go smoothly.

Overnight camping is fine as there will be a campfire and a place to BBQ or you can drive home and come back the next day. The facilities are a Port-A-Potty, running water, BBQ and a campfire.

There will be a charge of $60 for the event to offset the cost of electricity, Port-A-Potty rental, tool replacement costs and general chaos. (NO 1 day discounts PLEASE do not ask.) *An additional $10 to go toward food and drinks is optional but appreciated. Trying to get burgers, dogs and sodas for lunch on Sat and Sun.

Rules:

• Only bring a kit that has an ORIGINAL UNCUT BARREL also a matching numbers kit is recommended OR a barrel already HEAD SPACED and POPULATED. No virgin barrel work will be done at this party.

•ALL BUILDERS PLEASE POST WHAT TYPE OF KIT YOU INTEND TO BUILD SO WE ARE 100% SURE WE HAVE ALL THE CORRECT TOOLING FOR YOUR BUILD.

• 1 AK build per person LIMIT NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE!!! No working on multiple builds this will NOT be allowed. THIS RULE WILL BE ENFORCED. (Recommended to bring an extra flat as a backup just in case a mistake is made on the first.)

• NEW AKBuilder bent and trimmed flats ONLY (NDS is OK). NO Tapco flats!!!

• Demil as much of your kit as you can before the party and have it ready for assembly.

• You must spray down each and every part with Brake Parts Cleaner BEFORE you put them inside the blast cabinet and then spray them down AGAIN and let them completly air dry BEFORE putting them into the parkerizing solution.

• There are neighbors near by but 2-3 rounds of function testing will be permitted on the far corner of the property during the daylight hours to ensure that everyone leaves with a functional AK.

• Please Do Not bring your dog/pets.

• NO picture taking of ANY attendees will be permitted other than by the helpers. (Documenting YOUR build is OKAY but no face shots of any other builder or helper other than yourself will be tolerated.)

• DO NOT bring ANYONE that is NOT on the Guest List unless I okayed them already in advance.

Is "almost guaranteed" something like 'a little bit pregnant'?

Close! Means the wife is pregnant and I can almost guarantee that I can get away. However, there is always that slight chance that something will hinder my ability to bail on the fat lady!

OMG! I've always wanted to attend one of these! I want to make a romy g or that slick amd 65 with the romy barrel that was a clone that 69Mach1 has, but barrel population is holding me back.

Put me as maybe, 95% sure, just unsure on what kit, but for sure it's going to be on a 47 style.

I don't have power tools, but I can bring supplies needed to support the building process like oil, water, trash, food, cables, etc... Things able to be obtain from he store and transported with ease, anymore just tell me.

I'm 100% in. I've found help with the barrel population issues. I'll bring my drill press, HD extension cord, surge protector, Weber grill, and whatever else I can stuff into the MILFmobile.

I have a Russian AKM kit.

I'm in as an expert and helper. I have all the tools, however I don't think I can bring my floor standing drill press. I can do pre-party barrel work, however my time is limited and I charge $40 PM me if interested and we can set something up to do it RQ. I have all the tools needed to do AKM's and 74's.

Pm me, If you have the gages and an over size pin (unless you have a new barrel) I'll show you how to do it. I would just like to borrow your gages to check my assembly while you are here.

I'm in but all I would like to do is fold my flat and spot weld the rails. It's going to be a screw together action and I need more compliance parts. I'm going to try an get everything ordered and here by then.

Parts ordered and should be here by end of week so HELL YEAH I'M IN
I got a Romy G kit
Tool and die maker over twenty years experience and built my first AR at 19 from scratch. Been in and out of guns for a very long time.
I was in the process of building my own copy of an AK builder die. So If it's finished I'll bring it along. It's for a 1mm flat.

Just want to confirm if these pistol kits are okay for the build party.

1. 9" AK-Pistol Parts Kit 7.62 x 39 http://ak-builder.com/index.php?disp...oduct_id=30079

2. 7.62x39 Romanian AK Pistol Kit http://centerfiresystems.com/KIT-ROM-PIS.aspx

3. Yugo M92 Krinkov http://armsofamerica.com/yugom92krin...omagazine.aspx

Obviously, I'm not trying to build all three. One build per person! I'm inquiring for a fellow member who's shopping for a pistol kit.

Thanks!

The only one there I wouldn't recommend is the one from CFS. Reading the thread on those made me glad I didn't pick one up.

Ok I'll be doing a Hungarian AKM 63! Just deciding on wood grips or plastic now. I enjoy this process of choosing already, just the furniture is making it harder all over again.

Bucks call me. There are things beyond the amd-65 kit you will need to build a akm63.

I guess it's the best place you have but is there a reason we are doing this out in the open.
No one has a place large enough to support a build party??

Location is in East County San Diego down a dirt road (cars can make it down the road easily).

We need people to bring 12-ton presses, drill presses, air compressors and Parkerizing Solution for this party to go smoothly.

Overnight camping is fine as there will be a campfire and a place to BBQ or you can drive home and come back the next day. The facilities are a Port-A-Potty, running water, BBQ and a campfire.
Yep sound like its out in the wide open. Hence the need for a generator and other supplies.

I think I'm going to think this one over. I wouldn't have committed so fast if I knew it was going to be outside.

We need to find a building we can rent for a day or two.

The place is on private property. There is a home on the property, but the build takes place down by the garage. Maybe the few of you who have concerns about it being outdoors have a misconception that this build party is in some random outdoor area, its not. Its one of the best locations a bp has ever been.
