Not bad, is it an actual AMT(they have something of a cult following and are not offten seen on the used market) or one of the new production High Standard models(model AMT-226 IIRC)?

I've always wanted one. Just make sure it functions properly.

Owned one.Extremely sharp edges on slide serrations.Straight blowback with very stiff recoil spring. Not that accurate.IMHO .22 mag is wasted in a short barrel.Sold it long ago and don't miss it.

Early AMT's suffered from galling if not adequately/properly lubricated. Otherwise, usually good pistols.

I have an AMT DAO Backup in .380. It's a fine pistol. Reliability is suppose to be spotty, but mine works every time. I worked at a shooting range that had a Automag II in .22 mag, worked fine. On the other hand, the range also had 2 AMT's in .30 carbine. Reliability on these was not so good, but boy were they fun to shoot!

Wouldn't own anything from AMT. My brothers backup 380 would never reliably fire, and my friend's Hardballer cracked the slide on factory ammo.

My dad has an AMT .45 long slide. Same model as what the "terminator" used in the movie as he always mentions (and uses arnold accent) when he pulls it out of his gun safe haha. It does jam frequently, but were thinking it might need new mags, or new mag springs.

I had one of those when they first came out new and always liked the look. Like your dad's I had quite a few malfunctions and the slide galling problems were not just rumors.

Although I ended up selling it I wish I had kept it because I probably could of got it running ok now days and there are a lot better lubricants today than what was typically used back then.

I had a Hardballer. It was junk. I don't know if that extends to the Automag II, though. Given the company's reputation, I'd want to test fire it before I bought it.
