I have been shooting a P80 build more now that it's finally broken in and reliable. Now I noticed that my strong hand thumb really hurts after about 50 rounds. I never experienced this with glocks before, so I did a little side by side comparison and noticed the relatively generous thumb rest / depression on the glock frame. I added a hogue slip on grip but it doesn't ride up high enough to help this issue. I am considering buying a DPM guide rod to reduce recoil as well, but it's expensive and not sure it will help. Has anyone else run into this or seen any mods to address it?

I can’t speak specifically about the P80, but my thumb doesn’t rest anywhere near the “thumb depression” on a Glock frame. Sounds like you are sandwiching your right thumb between your left palm and the frame? Maybe try shooting with your thumbs up and forward.

I prefer the ergonomics of the Polymer 80's over any Glock frame. The P80 just points more natural for me and does have the hump on the backstrap who h helps me tremendously. I just wish the P80 would fit in a standard Glock holster because if it did I would carry it over a Glock.

I’m not sure about the full size, or the SC, but the compact frame does kind of push my strong hand thumb into an akward position. I find myself settling for a resting position (as opposed to being guided to a recess in the frame like a Glock). The discomfort seems to move into the web of my hand versus my thumb, but that’s just me.
Littlegat makes some decent Kydex holsters for the P80: https://www.littlegat.com/collection...full-pf940v2-1 They’re around $70, but it’s a CA small business which I don’t mind supporting. Last edited by 45TacShooter; 01-15-2019 at 9:46 PM.. |

If you're OK with finger notches, Butler Creek makes a grip that work perfect on the P80. It's a bit softer than the Hogue and is really comfortable but probably won't last as long. I used the largest of the 3.
