Arrow Nor-Cal C&R shoot January 5th!

Hello everyone! The third annual nor-cal C&R shoot is here!

Where: The Spencville public shooting range. It is free and unmanaged (location here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Waldo...alifornia&z=18)

When: Saturday, January 5th from 6:00-7:00AM to whenever we all leave. (Try to get there really early, the range fills up quickly!)

What: Primarely C&R's, but bring whatever you want! We all love seeing guns at the range, especially 22's. Impromptu shooting competitions are quite fun here!

Who: Anybody who wants to come! Bring your friends and yourself!

Since this IS a free, non-managed shooting range, so we have to bring some things that we might take for granted most places.

1. SHADE, anything that can provide shade will be appreciated. It will be January, but the sun still exists and it can be a pain to shoot long range with the sun in your eyes. Plus, heat will still be a factor: this is California people.

2. TABLES, for shooting from, and to put the guns on. They have some concrete tables, but they get filled up pretty quick.

3. COOLERS/ICE CHESTS, to keep our food (if we bring some) and drinks cold through the "heat".

4. WATER, the Spencville range doesn't have any. Don't forget to buy a couple of flats of water or fill a water cooler and bring cups!

5. CHAIRS, these are pretty important but the world won't end if we don't have them, but try to have them if possible. It makes shooting INFINITELY more comfortable.

6. TARGETS. They do not provide targets there besides what people left behind, so I suggest that you bring your own paper targets and cardboard stands, or other "reactive" targets, AKA tannerite, watermelons, old milk jugs filled with water, you get it.

7. FOOD. Bring your own! Unless you can go 6 hours without food

8. JACKETS, it will be cold in the early morning but it WILL heat up.

I can't wait to see you all there! If you wanna come just comment below or PM me and I'll add you to the list!

1. Airman Skitters
2. Paulie Lugnuts
3. mosinnagantm9130
4. Timthetwin
5. prop carver
6. Divernhunter
7. TDRifleman
8. BigJ
9. H3nchman
10. hylander

Suppose I could bring one of the A1 Clones home, need to get a blocked 10/20 Mag and a Bullet Button first, though... bleh.

We'll see about chairs, a sun umbrella thing and the grill again if possible.

Well bringing home the rifles shouldn't be hard. There is no constructive possession when it comes to assault rifles, so you can bring back the rifle disassembled in different containers and you could just say that the lower is for a .22 rifle (which are exempt from the AWB) and the top is an upper you are selling or bringing back for another rifle. There is no way in the law books to charge you with anything if you say that. So just transport the upper and lower apart from each other in separate containers.

If Bloodhawk83 is coming he should be able to help with the magazines and bullet button.

See, the fact that there will be a trapdoor springfield, an M16A1 clone (which I really want to build one of my own) and an AK variant there will make this shoot hard to resist....

As long as I don't have anything going on that day I'll see if I can make it.

I sold about a dozen of my C&R rifles but I still have 30-40 and a trapdoor if I can make it. Would a couple of 50bmg rifles be welcome also?

I'll be shipping it back in a box or something with the Martinis, the Ishapore and the Trapdoor and whatnot. Prolly will break it down and put the lower in one box and the upper in another, just to be sure, heh. But getting the bullet button and a blocked 10/20rd Mag won't be hard, got lines on both already. I doubt installing the silly thing will be an issue, I put all three of those ARs together with a friend from stripped lowers up.

That's a Wz. 88 Polish Tantal in 5.45x39, basically a Polish derivative of a Russian AK-74. We have an original Russian AK-74 kit we're working on, but haven't got the new receiver yet... then we have to send the barrel, front trunnion and barrel bits off to be installed because the later model -74's used "dimpled" on barrel bits... instead of pinned. Kind of a pain.

But... the Tantal should be a fun, heh.

If you're looking to build an A1 Clone I can tell you exactly how I did it, think I have links to all of the places I got the parts from, lotta fun to build, fairly expensive, though. Came out to $822 per A1. The A2 was around the same when all was said and done. Good times~

Ooh, 50BMG could be cool! And here I thought the largest caliber I'd get to shoot would be .450/.577 Martini... or maybe .577 Snider if another of our projects works out in time...

Very cool guys. Like Tim, I'm in if no conflicts. Can't know until a few weeks out.

I'm a little light in the C&R department these days. I can bring out the Winchester 1897 (built in 1908)... Would a scoped M44 be of any use? And I can bring out the Pietta 1858 Remington and handle the cleaning / reloading if anyone was interested in a little black powder?

Blackpowder is always fun! And anything goes really. C&R is just the main focus, even if you don't have anything C&R, come on out! It's great to meet fellow calgunners!

Yeah, all we ever bring are paper targets (Tannerite normally just appears at the range. It's magical). If there happen to be other targets there, then we might shoot at them, but we never bring any. I've never ever seen a DFG agent there, take that for what it's worth. They still could come though.

I've seen a Yuba Co. Sherriff out there once, but that was becuase some idiot was shooting at a full propane tank on the 25 yard range

Needless to say, literally everyone else on the range was swearing at that guy, and a good portion of us were calling the sheriff. He wound up starting a small fire, I can't imagine the bill for getting the multiple fire engines out there was cheap. The guy deserved it though.

Not necessary, but it's fun to know
The nice side of it though is that somali need something for your gun, you can ask around and people will normally bring the part if they have it.

Yes normally when fish and game show up its because someone called because of something. Magically appearing targets are awesome. :-D

I would love to shoot a Krag. Is it a long rifle or a Carbine? Just Curious.

What sort of Ammo do you shoot with your Trapdoors? I bought some new made .45-70 up here in Alaska at the show but I'm kind of worried about it. I don't know if it's a BP substitute or what... not sure if it's safe to shoot in my Trapdoor. They're unjacked bullets, I know that at least... I'll give the company I bought the ammo from a call one of thse days and ask.

One of the .45-70's next to a .450/.577 Martini cartridge:

Ooh, I'd like to shoot that 1858 Remington too! I've been getting a bit interested in those older Civil War Era Revolvers... 1851, 1858, 1860, 1861... so on, heh.

Speaking of BP, we'll have to see if I can get our Nepalese three-band Enfield Snider all cleaned up and checked out before the shoot... will have to make ammo for it too... I've heard 24 Gauge plastic shot shells cut down and loaded with BP and a ball or Minie ball work well enough... Going to need some work, though:

I plan on it, have to see what the eye doc says on the 20th. The lasik didn't clean up the right eye as well as planned. He's looking at the 3rd for a re-do surgery. I'll be there anyway, got some new toys that need to shot.
Who ever played with the scope turrets on my PSL last time, owes me some ammo to get it back on paper again!
Divernhunter, bring that .50, I'll pay for my share of the ammo for a chance to shoot it!

Who the hell messes with another mans scope?

And I hope your eye operation goes well! There is nothing better than seeing things straight.

And ditto for me Divernhunter, I'll buy a round or two

The Krag is a 1895 Carbine. Not origional, but nice.

My trapdoor loads are black powder pushing cast bullets as follows:

Rifle: .45-70-500
Carbine: .45-55-405

Gotcha, gotcha, still definitely interested in shooting that one, heh.

Hmm, I see... yeah, I don't know if mine are BP or some sort of simulate or even just Gunpowder... Think I've lost the Company's number too... ugh. I'll get it again and figure things out. I don't want to risk shooting that stuff if it could hurt the gun.

Who ever played with the scope turrets on my PSL last time, owes me some ammo to get it back on paper again!
Divernhunter, bring that .50, I'll pay for my share of the ammo for a chance to shoot it!

Would like to shoot with you again, Trap! I hope you can make it out and everything goes well with the Lasik stuff.

Also, I'd love to see that PSL. My dad told me about it, we were thinking of kit building one but it seems barrels are hard to come by. And... I doubt it was my Dad that messed with your scope, heh...

If it is not raining I will try to make it. I will bring both 50bmg rifles/original 30-40Krag rifle/trapdoor/3 Enfields/several mosin including a correct M38/ K31/Jap type38 and type99 and probaby a few other rifles. I will also bring some mil-surplus pistols and some commercial pistols.
If anyone from my area is going and especially has been there before I would like to hook up with you to carvan or you could ride with me. I will have a pretty full 3/4ton 4 door 4WD Ford P/U with camper shell. I also have 2 homemade portable shooting benches, several tables and a water cooler if needed.

Looking forward to the shoot! Still need to get my rifles home, though... need to box them up and get them shipped off, hopefully before the weekend...

Nothing has come up so far, so hopefully I'll be there. I'm not a "for sure" yet though, I'll have to see what my schedule looks like closer to the 5th.
