Default The REAL 22 Magnum by S&W pics

I have previously shown pictures of the S&W Model 53 introduced in
1961 by S&W that fired both centerfire and rimfire cartridges in the same
cylinder. This revolver dated June 5,1961 was not original when I acquired
it---the barrel was replaced and it had no target options, the bluing was
not matching after the barrel replacement so I returned it to S&W almost
3 months ago and had it done in nickel. Judge for yourself how it came out.
Pete

Yes,but only with 22LR. The original 22 Remington Jet ammo launched a
40 grain bullet at OVER 2000fps from the 8-3/8" barrel--this is a357 Magnum
case necked down to 22---it runs HOT/high pressure and it ATE UP Jet
barrel throats very rapidly--which kills accuracy/velocity! It is SO loud
it is ear splitting!!! As a side note--if you ever buy one of these LOOK
closely to see that the throat is not eaten up.If you find one that comes
with the EXTRA 22LR cylinder(very rare) be careful it is NOT a M17(22LR cylinder)
they are NOT the same/the M53 cylinder in 22LR is longer! Gun was
made from 1961-1974,about 14,000 total production. Pete

Nice revolver. It's good to hear you shoot it.
