Default Most anticipated metal detector: Equinox

It's about time for the Equinox to arrive.

A basic common metal detector works well in the field or park for coins and such. Is almost useless on the beach (reacts and sounds off to salt water) and almost useless for gold nuggets (not high frequency enough).

And beach and gold nugget detectors are usually very heavy.

The equinox has a multitude of frequencies (very high for gold nuggets, very low for the beach) and everything in between.

On the beach a inexpensive sales leader is the Tesoro sand shark which is a pulse induction dedicated beach detector (about $550). But PI's have no discrimination: it won't signal on salt water but will signal on all metals including trash (iron). A multi frequency detector does discriminate on the beach, but they are expensive. Maybe about $1500.

The Equinox is fully waterproof (great on the beach). Waterproof bottom coils are necessary but the whole detector is waterproof on the Equinox. If you drop it, it is not ruined.

It is lightweight: very lightweight, can swing it all day and not tire your arms. This is rare for a beach or nugget detector.

The Equinox is multi frequency: Simultaneous multi frequency is considered the best for salt water beaches. It is also high frequency (almost necessary for gold nuggets) and very low frequency (these low freq detectors are mainly used only for beach detecting) and lots of frequencies in between, all of which can be used at the same time if desired. Or just at one frequency.

It cost $899. That is cheaper than the best gold nugget or beach detectors and once again lightweight and fully waterproof.

I am not a metal detectorist... but your post taught me something, so thanks for that.

I didn't know about the different frequencies and applications.

How far down do metal detectors generally detect?

The run off points along the beaches seem to have a gathering of men post storms...

I have no clue what they find... but they come back after every storm

The Excalibur is as heavy as it looks, the Equinox weighs ounces not pounds and can be swung all day by people that ordinarily could not do that.

Maybe, just maybe some if us will find our firearms we lost due to boating incidents. If they wash up ashore that is

Definitely learned something.
