Default Steel Match @ SVSC this Saturday

Any of you boys from So Cal coming up?

Looks like I may have a full roster and may have turn a few away so let me know if any of you guys plan on making the trip.

Any chance we could get on the 1k range afterwards? To what distance is the steel match?

Not I. I'm hunting piggies on Saturday. I'll be doing some shooting on Sunday though. Either the desert (if the usual SoCal gang wants to get together) or Burro to do some position shooting.

If I don't head up there, I'll hit the desert on sunday. I'll see if I can't get some more targets between now and then.

Dang Vu, sounds awesome. But I don't think its in the cards for me this weekend. The woman is on me a bit. She's great though. She doesn't mind me going to the big match up there in August thats one week after her c section. I can't complain.

She's saying she does not mind now.
She might not feel the same come time you are packing up to drive away for 3 days...

For the Nor cal match do you guys want to take my SUV and get a hotel, It will be the same price as if each of us drive. We can put All the rifles in the back of the truck and other gear on top with tie downs. 8 of us can take the expidition.

I'd imagine that would be significantly cheaper than if everyone drove.. especially with 8 people.

The only problem with carpooling is that you won't have enough room to sleep in your car which means you'll be sleeping at the nearest hotel 45 mins away or something like that. No tents allowed if you camp on site which is why you need the car space to sleep.

Do you have a trailer hitch? I might be able to get a trailer to borrow for the weekend.

Yes I do. One thing you forget Jason is its going to be over 106, Its August. Plus we need to goto town to eat anyways. We might as well get a Hotel.
If Ryan can get a trailer we can run all 8 people and save money driving.

If you can't, I probably can.
My family owns a trailer rental business.
How big a trailer do we want to tow?

Having worked in the family RV business for 7 years, I would be careful of "sleeps 6" as that means it probably has 3 double beds.
The RV industry is funny like that.
Sleeps a "family of 6" is more like it.

Are trailers like tents where 6 people mean you sleep like Tetris pieces?

I guess it has a couple bunk beds. But it is cozy from what she says. I'll take a look at it in the next few days.

I think that trailers and tents use the same rating system.
I have a 4 person tent.
I could not imagine sleeping more than 2 people in it.

Will we be needing a rangefinder for this? I'd love to go so i can just get some experience. I missed the practice day due to work. I'd love to attend and shoot with you guys if I can.

You won't need a rangefinder. Most distances are given. Some aren't, but there are enough experienced guys who will range them and share the info.

$25 entry fee. Be there about 7 and you can help set up. We start at 8. 60 rounds of ammo is the min needed. Bring some extra jic. Rifle, scope, bipod or pack to shoot off. Sling of some kind is good, but not required. Data card if you have one. Elbow pads are handy as we shoot off the dirt, gravel, concrete etc. If you don't have any there about $10 at Big 5. Some kind of pack to carry all your ammo, mags, etc. Bring something to snack on as we might not finish till after 1 or so.

Post over on the NCPPRC forum thread about the match, that you plan to attend so Vu knows how many to expect.

Cool beans. I don't know what Kind of support I'll prefer but I have a bipod an can make a rear support. I have a great pack to shoot off of too. I'll bring both and use the event to figure it out. What should I fill the pack with for some support? Towels? lol. I can only really see myself needing my rifle and ammo. Its not like I'll have a ton of stuff to fill a pack with for support.
