Default Where to get ammo after 6 in Sac??

My plans tonight fell through so I want to go shooting, but the place I normally get ammo (RCGE) is closing at 6. I called Walmart and the lady acted like I was a crazy person for asking about ammunition... I've never bought ammo at walmart but I thought they had good deals?? Guess not in Sac.

So where can I go to buy some .45acp fmj after 6 o'clock around here without driving to Orangevale/Roseville walmarts? I have the itch and it must be scratched!

Is there a Big 5 nearby? What caliber do you need?

most big 5's sell handgun ammo, but be prepared to pay like it's gold plated.

No Wal Mart over your way?

There are a few closeby, but none of them sell ammo and the ladies who answered when I called acted like I was a looney for asking about ammunition, lol.

I know the Gun Range has ammo and is open until about 10. You could also try Ammo Depot off Sunrise (i think).

Besides Walmart, Big 5 , etc... shouldn't the range have ammo too?? I've never been to one that didn't. Expensive, yes, but convenient and available.

Walmart in EG off 99 and Big 5 in EG both have ammo like others mentioned.

Walmarts in Sac city limits haven't been carrying it because of the extra requirements at point of sale.

Walmart is probably going to be much cheaper than Big 5 and open later. I think the counter says no purchases after 10? Maybe it's later, can't remember.

Well I wasn't out completely, just didn't have any extra to take to the range. I only keep one box at home, I should probably hoard more but .45acp is expensive and I like to shoot it!

I just bought it at the Gun Range, it's more pricey than Walmart in Elk Grove but worth not having to drive out there. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

It is only going to get more expensive as time goes on. You can get a better price in quantity. Have you considered reloading?

Yes I'm planning on getting a reloading setup in the near future, but at the moment my 1911 is throwing brass into the ejection port and denting the cases, so I'll have to send it in for tuning before I can start reloading. I want to break it in a little more before I do that though.

Don't expect retailers to warehouse your ammo for you.

High and deep, or weep.

For future reference, SHTF, social unrest... whatever.

Keep at least 500-1,000 rounds of pistol ammunition available (for your primary platform), and at least 200 rounds for your non primary calibers (.44 special, 10mm, .22LR)

200 rounds for your primary rifle or shotgun, 50 rounds for non primaries
