What about a soft gun case that not only doubles as a shooting mat, but also is Ruger branded? $95.03

I use the midway deluxe drag bag. Cost is I think $70. It's a great buy.

https://www.amazon.com/MidwayUSA-Hea...C4FK4H6KX&th=1

fits the rifle unfolded which is nice since the case is soft. I don't worry about banging around in the hard case while folded.

Turner's has RPRs on sale for $1250, good deal or should I search elsewhere? I don't really wanna order online, I'd rather buy from a local shop. Thanks

It should be cheaper but it's probably a long time before it ever will be. I payed more than that so I say do it instead of waiting longer to shoot it.

Well, I just hit 3000 rounds down the ol' RPR. Looks like the groups have opened up a bit at around 2750. Still really nice but I am moving to a new barrel!

Looks like .653 moa average on the last of my old Amax's for this last range session on the stock barrel. Not bad at all!

Geebuz, how is that possible with a bolt gun? I don't think I have that many rounds down all of my semi-autos put together.

Nice DG. Are you gonna stick with 6.5 Creedmoor?

Not really man, I have owned the RPR for nearly 2 years now and around 60 rounds per range outing, twice a month, equals 3000 rounds. Not a huge amount of shooting at all, basically pretty mellow.

Yeah. invested alot in some whidden dies and 6.5 reloading stuff. I was considering trying 6mm, maybe creedmore or XC. but they all have reports of 1500 round barrel life. I think I proved to myself with good maintenance and not pushing the loads, 6.5 lasts as long as anything else.

The load I settled on that I have used 90% of the time is:

Old Amax 140 grain (bought a bunch back in 2015)
H4350 42.5 grains (2750 FPS)
Hornady brass (got around 3-4 firings, first just neck sizing then last 2 FL)
CCI BR primers
.010" jump (still fits in the AI mags)

I want the LRI barrel and they say Berger Hybrids so that will be a nice transition because I am out of the old Amax.

No, I would have maybe done that if I ever get around to getting that Giraud machine to go with my Giraud trimmer. But the Hornady brass problem was the primer pocket.

Actually not that hard. Figure a weekend of long range shooting is an easy 300 rounds or so, and the RPR has been out a couple years. 10 such outings for long range shooting and you're at 3000.

Basically load development plus a long range shooting weekend once a quarter or so for 2 years is your 3000 rounds come and gone. Add in some range days or replace a long range weekend a couple times with a monthly 100 yard range shoot and you're back to 3k.

Yup, my next purchase. I bought 1000 or so cases of Hornady in 2015 before the Lapua was out. Hoping to get 7+ firings from the Lapua, that's what I get for my 308 Lapua brass. And that's without annealing!

You can anneal with a plumbers torch

I think if you are just starting to reload #1 is to just start reloading
over time the rest falls into place

it didn't make much of a difference

Pretty sure of that

But don't want to mess up my brass either . . .

At $ 2.50 and $ 5.00 a piece . . . .

Don't have anything on the newer ELD but the old amax box ammo was around 2800 for me. Pulled a round apart once and measured 43 grains of whatever they used.

1710 fps ?

On the previous boxes it mentioned - sort of - shot out a 26" barrel

Check online perhaps

OK. I've decided to get into the bolt action with RPR 5.56. Sooooo, any suggestions on ammo Can I get away with any 556 rounds for <100 yds breaking in before going crazy on match grade stuff ?

were I you, I'd just hop right into crazy match grade stuff. RPR in my experience needed "more break in" to smooth the bolt and trigger. Both felt awful out of the box, I thought I had to modify both. Nope. Just shoot a couple hundred rounds, and good to go.

Barrel seemed GTG

I'd like some glass recommendations. I'm considering the NF SHV and the Vortex PST Gen2. I have already have NF NXS and a Vortex Viper but haven't examined either other scopes.
