Default ELR shooting

Been doing a bit of work to sort out some ejection problems I was having with my rifle and getting a practice range set up where we can get some of the ranges we need to practice...which seems like a good thing, looks like the URSA monthly match is a no-go this weekend due to lack of shooters....

http://

Got 4'x4' plates set up at 1950 yards, 2900 yards and 3200 yards. Should give us a nice array to practice with. Gonna set some closer stuff up too, so I can practice my "hold unders" for the 1300 and 1600 yards in Tonopah match.

Had a buddy from work take me out in his jeep today to get a good GPS location of my target spots.

http://

Took a page from the "Bench guys" set up (having a nice way for rifle to recoil straight back without pivoting on bipod without breaking the bank on one of the Phoenix precison bipods) built a set of "skis" for my bipod along with a board to shoot from to get my recoil more straight back, seems to work well, gonna take some more time behind rifle to get used to it, but last weekend's testing the rifle shot well and I was more consistently able to spot my own impacts.

http://

Getting some pretty good numbers with my new load....this is virgin Bertram brass....thing is scary its shooting so well!

Since there is not gonna be a monthly match in SoCal this weekend, probably spend some more time developing our little practice range and send some rounds at steel out here....happy shooting!

Looks like a good setup and range. Wish we had multiple targets close to our area

I had to set it up, but I got mild steel plates for free from a guy wanting to clean out his yard, all I had to do was haul them off! It's harder than seems to find a spot to shoot that far in an area that isn't over run by atv guys! Will be a good practice spot though. I've got a buddy who makes flashers and I already have one of his set ups, gonna pick up two more to help out spotting impacts on the long stuff. Happy shooting guys! Hope to see a good turn out for Tonopah shoot!

Very nice. Wish I were closer. I like how you have the plates leaning back. It makes them smaller in the scope and bigger for the trajectory.

Maybe you can hold a Vegas match when it's raining up here in NorCal?

I'm running 3100 FPS in my new 375 SnipeTac with 352 gn MTACs and 142 gn of Retumbo. My SD ain't that good. I'm running 7.

Cheers,

We would have to run that by the Facilitator. Or just have an Unsanctioned match, my plates are a bit bigger and distances are a bit off. Would love to shoot with you guys though. It's definitely rough getting into the spot. I always am a bad one to ask, because I don't mind beating on my old '96 dodge, but some guys wouldn't like putting their vehicle through that.

7 SD, yeah that's terrible! I think that will play sir!

I only suggested it because we might be able to pull more ELR shooters from the Las Vegas area.

But, I may have to reconsider if it would kill my truck getting there.

Cheers,

Default Spot

Yea, the problem with accessible spots around here is that if it's accessible it gets overrun by what I refer to as "trash shooters". They will drag anything and everything out and shoot it and then just leave the mess...slobs! So we keep moving spots to avoid them. This spot should be decent, but it is harder to get in and out.

Which is why we in California don't advertise good spots but this spot seems very remote and you'd have to really want to get out there.

there are a couple of groups on Calguns that go out just for range cleanups

Don't hate the player...hate the game!

I HATE waiting on anything firearm related, you can take what you would consider a normal wait time and triple it!

Hope your rig comes together and all of your loads shoot bug holes!

Let's hope I get my barrels and reamer as 'promised' . . .

But we all know if the dirty word 'custom" pops up . . . 😭

That makes I have only 4 weeks for load development . . . and be ready for Tonopah !

If . . . all goes as planned . . .
