Hello All,

I just found this thread. I'm actually moving to Healdsburg in about a month and I was researching places to shoot. I'd be happy to meet with you to clean and shoot. Feel free to PM me or post details on this thread - I will be following.

Thanks!
Nick

Default Pine flat Rd. Healsburg

Most of the posts about Pine Flat rd. in Healdsburg are pretty old. Does anybody know if you can still target shoot there? Any directions on how to get there?

Thanks,
Mike

The area to shoot is at the very end of pine flats road. Behind The big iron pole gate about 200 ft there is an area that you can shoot. It is best for pistol as it is not very long. It is a long curving narrow road so take your time and enjoy the views.
From Redwood Hwy outside Healdsburg You take Alexander Valley Rd to Hwy 128 keep going straight pass Jim Town you come to a hard right in 128 but you need to go straight . You are now on pine flat road keep going straight and It will take about 30 minutes to reach the top.

I had no idea the place existed until a buddy of mine told me about it yesterday. I'm in for a cleanup trip.

You can not go to far because it is the end of the public road.

So is that where it is at the very end of the road? So drive as far as you can go to a dead end?

Been going to Circle S for 40 years now and have never had a problem.

I see a lot of people getting yelled at because they refuse to follow the rules. You can't go near the benches during a ceasefire or they yell at you to get back from the benches.
After they yell at the same person for the 4th or 5th time they tend to get more intense and everyone else wants the idiot kicked off of the range.

I see them telling people to center up the targets on the frames all the time. They want you shooting at the bullseye and not the target frames but people still do it all the time.

When there is a ceasefire they don't want people handling guns. They tell them to put the guns down as a ceasefire is going on.The ones that don't understand ceasefire tend to get yelled at after they fail to follow pretty common rules at most ranges.

They are now closed monday tuesday and wednesday with tuesday and wednesday being training days for LEO.

The owner is a pretty friendly guy and his son is second to none. The guy with the tattoos is a wealth of gun knowledge and can shoot with the best of them.

If your going there for the first time leave all your gear in your vehicle and go read the rules carefully. The rules are one page long and if you have any common sense t all you won't get told to get away from the benches or to put your gun down during a ceasefire.
If you want to do as you please an ignore the few very simple rules you will likely get yelled at then asked to leave.
It is a working cattle ranch and been in the same family for years and the current owner isn't about to lose it because wants to handle a firearm during a ceasefire.

Hi:
My wife and some friends are planning to rent a house in Kenwood, CA over the Labor Day Weekend. Since I haven't gone shooting in a while, some of my friends (the guys) were planning to sneak off from the wives to go do a little target shooting.

Pine Flats (top of the hill) seems to be the closest unregulated spot.

Q: Since the last reference I see to shooting up here is in April, I just wanted to check - is this area still open for shooting?

http://ww.calguns.net/calgunforum/sh...&postcount=209

I also need to confess that most of my camping this summer has been out of state.
Q: How dry are the conditions out here and it is even advisable to go shooting? I don't want to be the jerk that sets something off.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
Regards,
-g

And to be extra safe, don't shoot anything with steel in it. See if it attracts a magnet.

Looking at a satellite view of the area I believe to be where everyone is shooting. It is not that large? Looks like if you set up on the road, the furthest you could shoot is about 50 yards?

Pine Flat range cleanup!

Sunday, Oct. 13th

Meeting at Big John's parkinglot, SE corner, by 9am. Bring trash bags and whatever food you want, and whatever you want to shoot afterwards. I'll have an ice chest full of drinks again.

Not many people committed to this one...

It's much cleaner still than the first time we did it, and won't take all that long. Then we can shoot, and you folks that want to see the game can get back to that.

Post here if you're going to make it, and if you have any particular soda/gatorade/tea/whatever requests!

It takes about the same amount if time +/- 5 minutes from my house to either Cow or Pine flat. Pine flat is maybe 50 yards

I'll be out there Friday. I'll be leaving with a truckload of garbage. Whatever fits gets taken away.

I wouldn't really call it a "cleanup," but it's worth something. To anyone else going to shoot, do the same once or twice a year.... just bring a pickup and load it up before you leave.

Trash isn't bad (compared to "normal" at Cow). I was up there the other day and took a few bigger pieces with me when I was done. What was left was a couple folding chairs, a 2x4 frame for a target, a satellite dish, and misc small items. I try to take a few things everytime I go up there.

People seem to be doing a pretty good job of bringing down more than they take up. There's always going to be plenty of a-holes that leave a lot of trash, but that's never going to change no matter where you go. Keep on keeping on, and bring down a load every time you go up, and it will hopefully stay as a safe and legal place to go for target shooting.

Just be careful of the folks on bikes. They like to try and turn themselves in to hood ornaments!

I have been trying to find this area on google maps and I am a little confused by the descriptions of the location. Another thread gave the following coordinates (38.753696, -122.768644,) and when viewing the area on google maps, it looks like there is a fairly new green gate that would prohibit a vehicle from passing. Also, the aforementioned coordinates, are no where near the end of the road. I then looked at the end of the road and saw that there were two gates and a chained area with boulders stacked in front of it. The one on the right was an old rusty gate and the one on the left is a heavy duty white pipe gate. Can someone please add a picture of the gate or verify the coordinates for me?
