Default Walther HK G36 .22LR $359.96 at Big 5 (Los Angeles)

Just jailed a HK G36 .22LR at Big 5 in Burbank. These run up to $600. Total was $419.16 OTD. They are on clearance. There might be 1 at the Glendale store.

Tag was marked $399.96 but rang up $359.96.

Thanks OP.

Picked one up at the Granada Hills store. Apparently there is a 10% off discount on clearance firearms going on. Hard to tell what's on clearance though.

I had one store check the inventory of surrounding stores in their system. Then they called the store, confirmed the stock and had them hold it for me.

Though I hate buying from big 5 because only a few managers are able to do the dros, I'm going to check out the nearby store to see if they have it. I've been on a 22lr rifle tear lately.

That's pretty good. I've been wanting some more .22lr rifles as well. Fun to shoot and cheap.

Are they still $359?

Do you know if they had any left in stock in the area? Thanks.

As of yesterday $359. The location I went to (florin) did not have any left after I made my purchase. I would call around, lots of Big 5’a in the area. They can also look for stock at other locations. If you have to drive a ways I think it’s still worth it. These things are usually $490+ online. Add in DROS, shipping, tax, FFL transfer and it gets upwards of $600 real quick.

Thanks. Got the one at Glendale like you said. It was marked 459.99. Sales guy was surprised it was actually $100 cheaper

These are on clearance so it’s likely only the floor model on sale

Can I ask what is the attraction to a G-36 copy in 22LR?

I know there is that company that makes a whole lot of look alike 22LR firearms all using the same fundamental design.

I do have my own firearms fetishes including a bright international orange PS90 look alike 10-22 made from a cheap airsoft rifle for the outer skin, but I am thinking there might be something special about the G36 version, like some of those 22 LR AR15 look alikes that use a compatable AR15 lower receiver like the Chiappa M4 22 LR. Can you do anything special with this G-36? If it is super top secret flying squirrel stuff that Natasha can never find out about and you are forbidden under penalty of losing your man card for making a public post about it then PM me what it is-be sure to whisper in the PM so no one overhears what he secret is.

Maybe it's the same reason people bought the HK Mp5 .22's Walther made a few years ago? Big 5 cleared them out for $350 and now they're being sold for $500+ in the used market. There must be some kind of hidden attraction, right?

IMO, it's a better rifle than a 10/22 out of the box. Better egos, features and dimensions to actually fit an adult
All for just $100 more than a ruger, I'll take the G36.

It's a fun cool looking 22lr rifle. Cheap at $350

On another note, Isn't there some sort of law that prohibits painting your gun orange or yellow?

The problem with these Walther replica .22s are they tend to be picky with ammo and not very reliable. After owning a MP5 replica from them, this is a hard pass (10/22 all the way).

I am getting the last one (display) at Big 5 in Westminster. Per the manager, Buena Park and Long Beach stores each have at least one left.

I stopped by one here in the east bay. Marked 399 but had the chick ring it up. Rang up 359 but nobody there could sell a firearm today. She gave me a 5 hour window for tomorrow and a 3 hour window on Monday. Does anyone have a coupon that will work for firearms ???

Well first consider if this is just the butt stock or an outfitted 10-22.

I was prompted on a google search after I saw a "professionally made" PS90 type butt stock for the 10-22 but they wanted like $350 for it-nearly the price of TWO 10-22's. I would have to say the professional one likely was of much higher quality and likely does not break into a thousand pieces if dropped like I am afraid this one would, so definitely not practical. A standard 10-22 stock is the way to go for sure for accuracy, dependability, ease of use, & practicality.

It is sort of like the G-36 in 22LR (…..but is there a GUN CULTURE SECRET on the G-36 like the "REAL AR SPEC TYPE LOWER RECEIVER" on some of the M4 in 22LR ….. no one has shared with me of such a top secret.....Does it work as a Donor stock and other parts for making a real G-36?) so though not a big G-36 22LR fan I get the fun gun factor and specific fetishes for these little suckers, plus as mentioned some of these have gun culture secrets on how to get the most out of them that non-firearm enthusiasts are oblivious too.

The idea was stolen some 13 years back from a YouTube guy who explained how to do this and most importantly figured out the linkage (the tricky part- copied shamelessly but still took me 3 big separate attempts to get just right as first the porridge was too hot, then the porridge was too cold....). I just now did a search for that specific video I used but could not find it, there were like 15 other videos of this same project, some giving good details.....others just duds so you can search there and have some fun seeing where the youtube trail goes'

It was a fun gun project 13 years ago but Unfortunately I used a cheap plastic buttstock and after being left in the car one day in the hot sun the plastic warped and I tried like hell to put it back straight without luck. Also be cautioned as the airsoft buttstock I used would have made it only 25" long ….so....because I did not check on that first and it was not mentioned on the youtube (got to be careful with those youtube videos as sometimes they promote felonies like this one did) ….. I was after the fact forced to add a 1" piece of wood was permanently attached by screws and epoxy -screws alone broke the plastic I attached it too--on the buttstock. It did not paint orange nicely and looked butt fulgly. After I put a very long wrap type slip on butt pad over it the look was better. Unfortunately it was a very cheap airsoft butt stock I chose ($29 shipped from China) so the it split in the back-screws broke the injection molded pillar they screwed to and pulled out. I would not want to glue it as cleaning would have been impossible so the Velcro strap worked and sort of made it look all of that stuff is supposed to be there.

If I did I over I would pick a better quality plastic donor butt stock and get red one because it would look nicer and contrast better with black and would color match better with all my red colored toys (EDC Flashlight, Truck, -I do like the color red). I would pick a different stock to get to the 26" length requirement or just get an 20" barrel as my after the fact after ….the fact after ….the fact add on's makes it much less practical but it did actually make it pop on the eyes a bit more.

Currently this 10-22 is stocked on another more traditional means because having TWO of these 10-22's is still not enough of them to keep in all the fun shooting configurations you want, but I keep this stock around as the color is more friendly than black and being a 22LR offers no kick and being a 10-22 it is very accurate and reliable so has more appeal to smaller shooters. Who knows, maybe I will get another 10-22 and put one back in it.

Maybe this year .....because this maybe the first year in a very long time when we of the fellowship of Calguns are not all panic buying something (standard capacity magazines, C&R, SSE, 50 BMG, standard capacity magazine kits, Internet purchased ammo, bullet button rifles, and on and on and on). No one has chirped up or whispered in my ear to say what I will be buying and paying a 300% markup rate on come this December so maybe I will have enough fun funds to get another 10-22 off a Calugns member for a good price.

Back to our G-36 deal.

Great write up, thanks!
