I have one. I'm not a scope expert but I like it, it works well, seems to be nice quality. I still have not used the BDC though, only usually shoot 100-150 yds

Great scopes. Have used them on various platforms from 22's, 223's, and 308's. Work greated on each. Very nice glass and a solid construction. Great buy, especially for the price.

Been eyeballing this one myself. I noticed it's a new item but it says "discontinued" on some websites. Anybody have some insight on this?

Hard to get a hold of right now, so companies may mark them that way. were waiting on a big shipment of them from Nikon now. have the 4-12 p223 and the 3x32 carbine models in stock currently:

Also have one mounted on top of my 6920. I went with the prostaff which is a bit cheaper and the only difference is turret style. I liked the streamline look of the prostaff and still being able to cover the turrets was a huge plus for me.

Just sighted this scope in at 100 yards and what I found is:
Pros
Looks good
Not too heavy or bulky
Very clear for price point (comparable to some $500 range scopes)
Very bright
Resettable to zero turrets
Finger adjustable turrets
Easy on the wallet

Cons
Not first plane parallax so BDC only works at 9x
A tad soft on edges
Eye relief is a bit hard to find the sweet spot for me at least
Not illuminated

AK5,

Go to Nikon's website and look at their Spot On software. One of the very nice features of the BDC is you can use it at ANY magnification. You just choose your cartridge and zero and youre all set. You can get a printout of every holdover point at each magnification setting.

The Prostaff/P223 product lines are decent entry level scopes but if you can afford it I suggest stepping up to the Monarch/M223 product lines.

Put the 308 on my M1, I think I'd prefer the Mil ret.. clearer sight picture.

Good scope though, the 223 has been well liked.

The P series scopes are built off the Prostaff series while the M series scopes are built off the Monarch platform.

I've used my P223 3-9x BDC on a Ruger 10/22, AR-15 style, and transferring it to my AR-10 style. The glass is pretty clear, and the "Spot On" website gives you accurate information when used with the BDC reticle. Using 9x magnification, 50 yards is very clear and you can see .22 holes. At 100 yards, it's a bit harder unless you use color reactive targets. You can still see targets at 200 - 400 yards, but it won't be able to see holes in a target.
