Default Good gunsmith for new barrel and action

I was hoping someone here would have a good gunsmith, preferably local to the la/oc area but will ship it if necessary. I want to have an old savage 110fcp 308 (the one with the mcmillan stock) re done. I'm looking to have either a curtis custom axiom (have one of these on my MPA and really like it) or a surgeon/defiance with a krieger or bartlein barrel installed. If they (the gunsmith) can supply the barrel and action, great. If not that's fine. Will likely add a trigger tech trigger while this is being done. I'm aware that what I am asking for is basically keeping my stock and throwing away everything else. This was my first, of many rifles, first firearm actually and its over a decade old. It has a fair amount of sentimental value to it and has been in my safe while other items have come and gone. I don't want to sell it, but the barrel is pretty shot out and the action is, well its a savage.

Would love any guidance or advice. If I am way off on what is possible please let me know for whatever reason I may have overlooked.

Thanks very much

You understand that a Savage is not a Remington correct?? A Savage doesn't have the same foot print as a Remington which is what 99% of all after market actions use. your Curtis Axiom is a Remington foot print, the Surgeon Defiance is also a Remington foot print. So your stock is pretty much useless to the gun smith unless you desire to pay over double for a fiberglass fill and reinlet. I only know of one shop doing that and he seems to have customers with more money than brains

My advice is sell your savage complete and commission a custom build.

I am in the LA area and can put a barrel on your action of choice.
I do not deal in parts though so I leave it up to you to get all the parts before you schedule a day to come over for my to do the machine work.

The kind of stock work you are contemplating WILL cost more than a new stock.
If you have a connection to that stock, just keep the old action/stock together and put a new barrel on it.
Maybe make it a 223 with a new bolt head?

Start a whole new build with a new stock and a nicer action.
