Default Zeiss scopes, in general?

I have the opportunity to buy, at a steep discount, one of a few Zeiss scopes. Wondering if anyone here may have an opinion on them, as I've not used a Zeiss before.

I have a 1965 Remington Fieldmaster 572 long rifle and an DDM4 AR-style rifle. The scope will spend the majority of its time mounted on the Remington and used mostly for targets.

I can get a Zeiss TERRA 3X 3-9x42 #20 Reticle for $199.

Or a Zeiss Conquest HD5 2-10x42 Plex Hunting for $708. Given that I shoot only about 2x a month, this may not be worth the cash out of my pocket.

(I can also get a Victory Z-Point Red Dot Reflex Sight for $499, for the AR as a CQB option, but that's another story).

Just looking for any guidance or experience on Zeiss as a brand, if not these exact scopes I mentioned.

Thanks.

I'm curious about it as well. I saw a Zeiss Terra 2-7x for $359 on SWFA but it doesn't have any special features. No AO, no BDC and no illumination. Are they just THAT good?

Zeiss is one of the big 3 of the top binocular brands with the others being Swarovski and Leica. They have been around for decades and are world renowned.

I haven't owned a Zeiss scope but I do own a pair of Zeiss Conquest bino's in 8x42 and think they are the cats meow. If i could afford a zeiss scope I would buy it.

I would be all over that Zeiss scope for $199. If you don't want it sell it to me.

I have a couple of Zeiss Conquests scopes....a 3x9 and 3.5x10. both are excellent glass and have a good history behind them.

Go for them, don't think you can go wrong.

I have a Zeiss Conquest scope on my .300. It can resolve the bullet holes on targets better than my Bausch and Lomb spotting scope.

Zeiss optics rock, though there have been some negative reports about the new Terra series scopes over on OpticsTalk/SWFA.

The Zeiss conquest 15x56 (IIRC) was just named the top bino of this years crop in the latest issue of OL (or maybe it was F&S).

Apparently the Terra line is made in Asia and is the new low end line for Zeiss while the conquest is the mid line below the (not enough coffee for memory to work right yet on a Friday for me to remember) top end line.

How about a Conquest 3-9x40 for $429, minus 5% using the coupon code below?

Good scopes but for a 22RF? Probably better to get a scope designed for the 22RF since the parallax is wrong on a big game scope for a 22RF.

But the scopes would be good on a centerfire rifle.

My 2 Cents
