I hope someone out on Parkhill Road chimes in and volunteers their place up. Hey, anyone know the current owner of the old "Outlaw Ranch"? That would be a cool place to hang out for a weekend or more. Is old Stornie's (sp?) Gun Shop still in his Barn outside of Cayucus? If so, maybe someone could talk the current owner in to letting us use a little land and electricity?

Exeter is perfect for central cali, its close to all the big central cali cities and everyone knows where it is.
Anyone have a good line on an inexpensive AMD65 kit?

Well fresno is about 50 miles from the geographical center of CA, so maybe somewhere in Fresno/Madera/Kings/Tulare county.

Although Exeter is just outside Visalia, so it fills that requirement.

You might as well call it a socal build party because the distance I would have to drive is over 3 hours to get way down to Exeter

North Fork, closest place to the center of california, is 100 miles from Turlock, and 98 from Exeter, so no.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, Central California!

A build party anywhere in here would be great, and I think you could drive anywhere within this area in a few hours, very easily feasible for a build party.

Gee.. this sounds a lot like the situation that us Cen Cal folks face with the build parties everywhere else..LOL.

Let's see.. we're too far south for folks in Turlock and farther north and too far north for the people down past Bakersfield.

I'm in, assuming a date back enough that I can afford a kit. I'm working on that. Hey.. I've already got my first part, a US-made 922r compliant gas piston.

Just in case some are still confused
Roughly anything Bakersfield to the Sacramento Delta, Santa Barbara to San Francisco is geographically "Central" Calif.

San Joaquin Valley is "Central," Sacramento Valley is "Northern"

From Turlock, you're closer to the Bay Area or Antioch build parties. It's what, about 60 min or a little more to the East Bay from there?

Just to clarify. We aren't setting up a central AK build party. We are looking for a local member to "take point" in setting one up in the Fresno area, so that we can come and help out. This thread is to gauge interest. So who's in?

I don't know the date, but it won't be until early next year (not in Jan.).

I'm in to come and help out. I might be able to bring some of my tools but I'd be taking Amtrak and my bike so 50lbs of tools really isn't feasible.

Anyone know if there's a Calguns rep in the Central Valley that could help coordinate something like this??!

I'm a little late to the thread but let's get this going. There's a full shop available with work benches/tables to build on and a covered area to step outside and test fire. Shop has plenty of light, insulated, heated, huuuge air compressor and the closest neighbor is 1/4 mile.

How do you guys feel about coming to the Kings County seat, Hanford? Easy to get to from North or South. Don't worry, it's not on city water, it's well water, the good ole fashioned way straight out of the ground. Surrounded by tree orchards so it's nice and quiet.

Sounds awesome! Would we be able to camp there too? How about bringing dogs?

Camping and dogs would be fine, there's plenty of room with power & water hookup if anyone brings their trailer/motorhome. Full bathroom/shower available. Weather permitting, there's a good spot for a camp fire. It's only about 10 minutes from town with a few hotel options, plenty of restaurants and some decent bars, too.

We're initially thinking February, that will space it out a bit from a big SoCal BP, for the sake of the BP leaders and give us plenty of time to select and buy kits.

Only about 10 minutes, it's not a big deal to get you ride from the Amtrak station, just make sure you plan ahead with me so I can schedule that in and coordinate with anyone else.

Sounds good. That far enough so I can budget some money and time for the trip.
We'll be in touch, might be able to get down early to help set up too.

We're initially thinking February, that will space it out a bit from a big SoCal BP, for the sake of the BP leaders and give us plenty of time to select and buy kits.
If Feb is the target month, I'll try my best to get up there instead of hosting one down here. If you are 100% serious about this, feel free to ask me for any tips and/or advise on planning and hosting a BP.

Not the first by a longshot. FEDUPWITHBS held one or more in Fresno before PRK existed.

You might get a ride from some guy who just bought a mini (gee, I wonder who that could be?)

Tagged, and interested in helping out.
