laptop screen to stand alone monitor (recycle your laptop)

Always wanted to do something like that with old laptops, but it's never worth it for me. If the screen is intact I'd rather just unload it on ebay.

I'd love to do an all-in-one self built digital picture frame from one, but again, you end up with a big casing and buying a lot of extra stuff just to use the junk in the first place.

This REALLY is more for those of us that build out own portable game systems or tech systems. I at one time looked into getting a shoebox computer because it had a screen on the side or something like that.

This would have been SWEET for me to put an LCD monitor on the side of my game system and then with my keyboard hanging off the opposite side, I would have an all in one unit. Now though it seems that this might not be too bad of an idea for a tech toy. I am just pissed that I threw out/ destroyed 9+ laptops several months ago, even one was a Dell with a 17" lcd. DAMN...

I do agree with you though, $50+ to spend on the pcb/psu for it is kinda high and borderline just go buy one made already for $75 or less online, I bet I could get one for $50 after shipping on Fleabay. But yeah anyways... It would look cool mounted to the back of my back pack when I walk around a gun show and it displays what I have for sale, and runs for 8 hours on batteries...
