SHTF isn’t the same as TEOTWAWKI. SHTF is local, short time duration, due to a natural or man made disaster or some other kind of thing. State functionality remains and presence will be heightened. Anything you have that’s offensive in nature and you’re in trouble. All weaponry had better be defensive in nature and hidden. You’re mission is immediate survival and getting to a safe place. If you need to travel, for whatever reasons, it had better be close and quick.

That being said, a compact 9 or 357 with a mag or two, speed strip or two is all you want. And a good fixed blade knife 4-6” max. The other thing would be some sort of short baton type thing. Anything else and you’ve got too much and not defensive.

Long guns, which are offensive in nature, have no place. You could explain away a concealable pistol, but not a chance “I’m carrying the AR because...”.

End of the world stuff on the other hand, societal function broken down, that’s a different story. Depends upon what the rest of the fire team has with them.

In SHTF I would only do with .22 like a LCRx with 22 shorts. I am the type that would not want attention and only use the gun to get out of the most dicey encounter. I agree that having a long riffle will attract attention.

In case of a bug out situation will stick with the LCRx, take my Henry 22 lever and a shotgun. Maybe a 9mm for close quarters!

SHTF isn’t the same as TEOTWAWKI. Lets hope so.

It would sure be interesting to see some of the weapons that have been hidden away for a long time.

As for a 3 weapon combo, I personally don't see the point. It is my humble opinion that a person should never limit themselves on how many and type of firearms they want or own. Bigger better and more would be the three I would want.

SHTF can very well be TEOTWAWKI if you are the one who is killed or has family crippled or killed during the disaster. In those instances it took days (sometimes longer) for assistance and law enforcement to arrive.
Were the L.A. riots SHTF or TEOTWAWKI? For the Korean shop keepers on their roofs with AKs and riot guns it was pretty much TEOTWAWKI if they lost their businesses they'd worked all their lives for. I don't recall any with a compact .357 with speed strips. If California has been so ********* that someone with a slung AR during a disaster is going to cause a panic, then it's time to re-evaluate things!

9mm and 5.56 would be best for ease of finding ammo. Every police station, etc. .357, etc seem kinda iffy.

Otherwise:
1) ACR
2) 590A1
3) Glock 21 (personal kit would definitely be a G20 with free state mags (G40 MOS if this wasn't CommieFornia)

bayonet and small machete aren't counted as weapons.
Not inclined to count the SU-16 folded up in the pack, either.

a 22lr rifle

a 223/556 rifle

a 9mm pistol

(i would like to have a shotgun for close in work but a 22lr rifle is much more useful most of the time. and ammo is much easier to carry.)

Keep the 12 gauge for bugging in. If you need to bounce, swith the 12g with the 22.

Absolutely some of the worst guns to choose.

Even today in Alaska you never want a 22 or 9mm on hikes/trails. The state troopers tell you those are as worthless as carrying a stick. This isn’t a video game guy.

I lived there and if the shtf and I was still living in Alaska I would take a 45-70, 45 usp and an AK/AR. You can drop grizzleys and any other wild animal along with a person.

Having been in the military I don’t worry about ammo weight too much or as much as normal civilians with zero military experience do.

Shtf I am home I have all my weapons, if I have to leave anywhere or buy out ar15 and glock 19 because although I don’t have any I am positive I can find the original intended capacity magazines for them somewhere. Just need 2 and my bushcraft style knife.

Total meltdown, Maybe the SCAR and the full size. It's light, folds small, etc. Ammo kinda heavy. Guess it depends if I'm going somewhere or just going out for water. Walking/driving/bike. Walking or bike just the 2. Driving I'd take a SG and a 22(I get an extra cause I only took 2 on the bike ).
I agree, it is about protecting you and your loved ones. Remember the Rodney King riots? Some looting and price gouging during the Northridge quake.
And for me it depends on which room I am and I would not limit myself to just firearms. I have a machete or two, as well as a katana and some knives and axes. But my general three gun would be at least one long gun, one handgun and a shotgun. Plus edge weapons.
