Buying advice on a 1911; Remington Rand slide w\ Springfield Armory receiver
Hi folks,
Really want to get your advice on a 1911 I saw today at my local gun shop. They have a WELL USED 1911 that has a Remington Rand slide with a Springfield Armory receiver. The receiver has NM in the serial number which I've read is a good thing as it is an indication of quality. It looks very similar to this model here... http://www.northwestfirearms.com/han...ry-1911a1.html I didn't ask too much of the history but the owner\seller said that it shoots great. I did not look at the barrel. The only draw back is that there is a fair amount of rust on the external frame and also in the magwell. I did not break it down to see if there was rust internally. Obviously rust can be removed, I am just concerned. Well, the asking price is $650. I am really wanting to get that WW2 feel and this definitely has that look and feel of a GI issued 1911. In comparison, I could get one of the Auto Ordnance 1911's that they are currently making that are a very close approximation to a WW2 pistol. Sooooo, pick up this mix match 1911 or go for something new from AO in one of their GI clones? Thanks in advanced. I will try to get pics in the next day or so. Regards, MP |

Pass imho. A rusty mixmaster with a WWII slide that is only partially heat treated. Why bother?
Just get a RIA Tactical with a lifetime warranty and save $150. Of if you must have a GI type model with worse sights, no beavertail grip safety and no lowerred/flared ejection port then get the RIA GI model and save even more.
