Default Upper Build Question?

Rainer,

I am in the process of building a DPMS style .308 rifle. I have my lower half built and I am looking for a specific style upper. I would like to buy 90% of the individual upper pieces from you and was hoping you could build it for me. I am looking to complete this build towards the end of the year, say November or December.

Here is what I am looking for the upper to look like:

The parts I am looking to buy from you are:
1. Rainier Arms Select™ .308 Barrel - 16 BLK
2. BA BattleComp Black Oxide
3. Bolt Carrier Assembly : DPMS 308 Chrome w/Phosphate Bolt
4. Magpul MOE Handguard – Midlength
5. Gas Tube Mid Length

Parts I am assuming you have and would like to buy from you are:
1. DPMS A2 Front Sight Gas Block with Bayonet Lug AR-15 .750"

I do not believe you sell DPMS style upper receivers, so would I be able to send that to you for the build?

Chad

We can certainly build it for you. We charge $125 to build a .308 upper, but that includes complete assembly and test fire. We have all the parts with the exception of the stripped DPMS upper and FSB w/ bayonet lug. All other parts we carry. You can certainly ship us the parts and we can put it together for you.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I am now complete with my lower build and am starting to buy the upper pieces. Now my question is can you turn this upper build into a mock Dissipator with mid-length gas system still.

The upper without the handguard would look like this:

Upper parts:
1. SI Defense upper (Getting in September)
2. Barrel Nut, Delta Pack and Triangle Handguard Cap (Purchased)

3. Rainier Arms Select™ .308 Barrel - 16 BLK
4. BA BattleComp Black Oxide
5. Bolt Carrier Assembly : DPMS 308 Chrome w/Phosphate Bolt
6. Gas Tube Mid Length

7. Magpul MOE Handguard – Rifle Length
8. Low pro Gas Block

If this is possible for you, then which sight would be best for me to get for you to build?

Uses standard 2 taper pins

Or

Uses 4 set screws rather than standard 2 taper pins.

The gas block with the taper pins would be best (more secure), however, we are not set up with a jig to drill and install them.

We certainly could do the gas block with the set screws, however, I don't know how secure/permanent it would be, especially on a .308 platform.

Hmm... Interesting, in the previous posts you did not mention not being set up to dril and taper the front block. Guess it was missed in the first post no biggie.

Ok so if I were to do my original build, then would not be able to do that correct?

Chad, we certainly could do the build with the set screw A2 FSP.
