Ahhhh Sorry for Not Knowing what Your Building ~ but what is the Reason for having the Extra Metal attached to the Grip ???

I do have Interest in the Color/Style but the Extra Metal Attached makes No sense to Me + $120 for a Grip is $$$ even thought its 1 of a Kind Made only for a few it's alot of Cash

P.S.
If You were too make 1 of those for Me with out all the Extra Metal Attached ~ I would pay about $40-$50 Bucks on Something like that

This is for a featureless rifle (no pistol grip or other "evil" features), it allows you to use legally owned hi cap mags and ditch the bullet button. The plastic one pictured is a $50 grip and there aren't many other options. Thank you for your feed back

Aimsmall

Thank You for the Response Back

I now understand the concept and agree its a Great Idea
these are worth going forward & continue making for others

anyways
when that day comes when You can make a Regular Milled Handel just like shown but without the Extra Metal Stock I would Purchase it for $40-50 Dollars & Keep My Bullitt Button since I like the Billet Handel for a Project Build

P.S.
I am Thinking
I would buy Both styles if There was that Option
as long as You can Create these Fast, Efficient and Reasonably Priced they Should be a Knock-Out Sell-Out Idea

That would be My Order
1 with stock & 1 plain without
Hope that Helps

I wish I could make them that cheap, run time to make one of these is 45 minutes plus it requires three different setups, if they were cast or forged it would be cheaper but would have to make thousands of them right off the bat and quality would not be the same so it's not feasible to do that. Again, thank you for your feed back

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=806158

I'm not sure how QD would be able to replace the lowers that I'm having trouble with. There isn't a way (that I know of) to easily send them back as now that they are 100%, they are considered firearms. Even if they did replace the two that I ordered with two corrected AR10 80%s, I would have to spend the $$$ to get them to 100%, as well as have them anodized again.
Update: I just got an update from QD on the two AR10s that I have. I was told that they were going to be checked on 9/5, but didn't hear anything after that. I e-mailed them this morning (9/9), and was told the following:

Quote:
I checked out your lowers and they are dimensionally correct. I then put them together with a DPMS and Sun devil upper and they functioned correctly. I do not have a CMMG upper in house to check it with. In summery I could not get either of your lowers to duplicate the problem you are having. I will be sending your lowers back to you.
There was no comment of the fact that I had to drill out the bolt catch spring/plunger hole by an additional 0.125. There was also no comment made about the axis of the bolt catch pin being too far away from the center line of the receiver. If they did inspect the lower, it would have been nice to see what the results were when they compared the actual dimensions to the nominal dimensions, not to mention what exactly they checked.

All in all, a waste of time in my opinion. Once I get the lower back, I will have to work on modifying the bolt catch as this seems to be the preferred method of repair.

I have two AR15 lowers that I have yet to assemble. I hope that I don't have the same issue with them as I did with the AR10s.

Build party has been cancelled.
I spoke with Jason Davis today and he has confirmed that ATF is of the opinion that CNC's are not to be used. While Jason and I both disagree with the accuracy of their opinion I am not going to risk prosecution. Sorry guys

There are still lots of other companies offering CNC completion of 80% AR lowers. Arms Specialty and Tool is one in SoCal. Check the Gunsmithing forum for others.

Can we still have our 80% lower engraved before it is drilled and cut ?
As in, we send the lower and it is sent back sans holes and cavity uncut.

Please advise.

I've used VaderSpade twice before and was happy with his work.

I had my lowers from this GB done already so that they matched the look of my others Vader did for me.

I'm going to start a new thread for the jigs pretty soon, I got the first batch of AR10 jigs back from anodizing last night and assembled them, packed them up and they are shipping Monday morning. I expect to have the rest on Wednesday or Thursday and ship Friday for the last few guys still waiting. As for AR15 jigs, I only have enough of them left to fill the rest of the group 3 orders and I will need to do another run of them, I'll update you guys with an eta on them as soon as I have one.

Shipping 9/23/13
Sudia247 2A1J1A1J MO $610
Fredward 1A1J MO $280

rvaldez79 2A1J MO $440

As for the engraving requests, the build party is cancelled and we won't be able to do any work on the 80's at all right now. Very sorry guys

Jerry, put me down for one AR10 jig. I'll get a money order first of the week.

That's fine however the group buy pricing of $120 is over, the retail on them is going to be $160, my cost to make the jigs was a lot more then expected which is why I'm going to start a new thread for them once I get all of them back from anodizing.

*Due to the BP's being cancelled and many of you having planned on finishing your 80's at the party I will honor the GB pricing on the jigs for 30 days from now for anyone who was in the group buy and wishes to purchase one.

I only have enough of them left to fill the current group buy orders right now but I should have more next week depending on how long anodizing takes. I'm going to start a new thread for them once I have them ready to ship and they will ship the day after payment is received.

Update: I picked up more AR10 jigs today and I'm going to try to ship the rest of the orders tomorrow too.

Any chances of getting some more off those qd 308 upper receivers in soon? I would love to build a matching rifle.

Unhappy Bolt Catch Issue

As far as machining costs and anodizing I don't know what they are willing to do, they told me they've only heard 3 people having this problem so far.
Well, it looks like I can be added to the list. Has Quentin Defense made a public announcement about the issue and how to handle it? I've poked around their website and I don't see anything. I'm sure it's going to be sticky being that I have a completed lower on my hands.

I'm really bummed out; planned on going to the range today with a new LR308 and instead I'm posting for help on the forums:Bolt Catch not holding thread

Good luck. I sent my two AR10 lowers to them for inspection. They kept them for a few weeks and told me that nothing was wrong with them. I got them back and am working on modifying the bolt catch to make things function correctly. Definitely not a satisfied customer.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4

Wow, that sucks... Did they say anything at all? eg, "The holes/pockects measured to 0.XXX" , which is within spec" or "everything worked fine when we used ACME but not XYZ parts"?

They did not give me any specific dimensions (even though I asked for them). They simply stated that the lower was within spec. They told me that they installed a LPK to the two lowers I sent them, and put them together with a couple of 308 uppers that they had. They could not duplicate the issues that I was having.

As far as customer service goes, I would have been satisfied if they sent me a couple of places where they measured dimensions on the two lowers that I sent them, and compared them to the spec values. If it were me, I would have taken measurements from the CAD/CAM model, and measured the same places on the actual part for comparison.

In the end, I believe that the issue that I am having is the bolt catch pivot axis (the roll pin/threaded pin that attaches the bolt catch to the lower) is not correctly located. I believe that it is too far away from the centerline of the lower. When I installed the LPK to the lower, and measured how far the bolt catch comes up above the mag well, it is in excess of 0.5 in. However, when I mate the lower to an upper assembly, this dimension is reduced because the bolt catch is interfering with the cut out on the upper assembly. I plan on removing some of the material on the bolt catch to allow for proper clearance between the bolt catch, and the interior pocket on the upper assembly.

Good luck with your lower. I hope that you get things ironed out.
