Thumbs up Hi Powers and P-35's - Let's see them

I searched, and didn't see that anyone had started a Hi Power thread. I've always had a soft spot for the aesthetic and history, and picked this one up the other week. The bluing is amazing, I'm still kinda swooning

The factory grips on the new ones look fantastic, but are so wide I had to order some replacements. Got these Hogue's in kingwood and am really happy

Here are my two. I have always wanted a HP but never got around to buying one,,,,up until December 2015. I bought two in two weeks. The bottom one I bought from grabagun.com. Two week later a buddy at work said he had two he wanted to sell, I bought the top one in the picture. Its a circa 1980 pistol.

my first semi-auto purchase...1989

i don't own a firearm with better balance than my Browning HP...my Beretta Cougar is a close runner-up, but, so far, nothing i own tops this one

if it wasn't SA only i'd have it as a HD firearm, that plus I would hate to have it confiscated if i ever had to use it for defensive purposes

Had the camera out again with the 1911's, and couldn't resist taking this.

Finally got the gun out to my cousin's ranch to put it through its paces. This thing begs to shoot the longer range targets and test your skill. No hammer bite to speak of thankfully, and talk about an ergonomic grip. Definitely a fan, and it's a pretty soft shooter to boot.

Default Hi Power

Andy I had the same experience with my Hi Power it is very accurate at longer distances. It is one of the few handguns I've had in 30 years that's able hit Steel at 100 yards with consistency I'm definitely a convert.

I'll have to try it out! The steel range I set up on the other relatives' property has measured distances out to 25 yards. We can get out to about 80 yards so it sounds like a new challenge

Mine is no safe queen. It has been carried to death and shot a bunch. I have no intention of ever refinishing it.

Sold mine to my SIL a few years ago. Think I might try and get another one. Definitely one of the nicest pistols I've ever owned and shot.

All original T series

I put original grips in safe and installed a set of Eagle grips. Shown with original Browning pistol case.

Those are some gorgeous hi powers skyhawk. I stopped by my ffl today to fondle my jailed acquisition. We set up a laserlyte target and adjusted the sights a bit. Also got to play with a nazi hi power and a double action hi power among other rare breeds. Pretty lucky to have an ffl that has been collecting hi powers since the 60's. I've learned a lot from him.

Snagged these two from the same seller. Tried to buy them outright before the auction ended up he wanted to let the cards fall where they may. Ended up getting them for significantly less than I would have offered. I believe the one on top of the picture is from 1979 and the other is 1981.

Nice acquisition. Question for you. Are those grips aftermarket or oem as far as you know? I ask because the checkering is inset of the border whereas all hi powers I have seen have the checkering outset. I'm just curious if browning did different things different years. Those are some gorgeous hi powers.

They are aftermarket. Stand ins until I can track down some decent original grips. I got these with Pachmayr and Hogue wrap-around grips which I hate so decided to swap them for these.

Damngato I'll keep my eyes open for you as well. My ffl is a big hi power nut and has been in the business for 40+years. I'll ask him.

Hard to have hogues on such a beautiful blued gun. It's like a barska optic on a colt 6920.

Only hi power I have with pachmayr is this one.....understandably.

Bought a 1965 T series from a friend last week. His father bought it new. Got the factory gun case and 4 mags. Absolutely beautiful!

Here is some pictures of my ratty example , By its serial prefix it’s a British contract around 1951 manufacture. I was told it was imported from Israel.

Nice internal extractor with machined takedown thumb hole. Bet it's a great shooter. Very cool.
